  2. Good for him! If he argues that this is about ‘equality of choice’, he may get further. Unless you allow equal marriage rights, you are, in effect, declaring that gay people are second-class citizens and that their love for each other is less valid. When right-minded people view it in this way, they can only support equlaity. It’s when the religious Taliban start screaming about ‘god’ that things get messy. Religion does not own marriage. It is a CIVIL right – NOT something over which religion has ANY sort of monopoly. Get THAT in your head, for god’s (pun intended) sake.
