UK boy band One Direction have teamed up with a US retailer in order to fight bullying, by taking off their clothes, and auctioning them in aid of the cause.

The five-strong boy band have teamed up with Office Depot, to each auction an item of clothing. All items have been worn by one of the members, and all are signed.

The retailer announced earlier this month that it was to team up with the boy band, runners up in the X Factor UK, to launch the $1 million (£650,000), anti-bullying campaign for US middle schools.

The items include a Ramones t-shirt worn by Harry Styles, Zayn Malik’s Topman jeans, Louis Tomlinson’s white Vans, an Asos shirt worn by Niall Horan, or a peace sign t-shirt from Liam Payne.

All items are available to view and bid on now at Charitybuzz.com.

The auctions all end on 17 September and prices are expected to increase dramatically before they do.

As well as the auction, Office Depot in the US is also stocking an exclusive line of One Direction back to school supplies. The proceeds given to its charitable arm The Office Depot Foundation, will come from those items.

Homophobic language and bullying are motivated by prejudices against lesbian, gay or bisexual people. The School Report by Stonewall last year showed that more than half of gay young people experience homophobic bullying and almost all had heard the phrases “that’s so gay” or “you’re so gay” in school.
