British Prime Minister David Cameron has offered his support to this year’s Mardi Gras in Cardiff, Wales which will take place on 31 August.
David Cameron wrote to the committee, offering his full support to Wales’ biggest LGBT event, which will take place at the Millenium Stadium for the first time ever.
“No-one should face prejudice because of their sexual orientation… events such as Cardiff Mardi Gras give us the chance to come together to celebrate the diversity of our communities…I’m sure the move to the Millennium Stadium for this year’s event will make it the biggest and best to date”, he wrote.
Mardi Gras commendeds that Royal Assent was given to the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act this year, and aims to celebration that equal marriage will soon be law in England and Wales.
This year’s line-up includes UK soul singer Beverley Knight, Lady GaGa Experience and reality TV star Rylan Clark, who will act as host of the event.
Adult tickets to the Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras are on sale for £8.00 until Saturday 31 August, when they’ll be available for £10 on the gate of Millennium Stadium.
A record 3000 people are expected to take part in the Mardi Gras Parade through Cardiff City Centre. The planned route will start at Churchill Way at 10:30 and make its way down Queen Street, the Hayes and onto St. Mary’s Street for 11:45.
