Video: Ke$ha sends backing dancers to counter Westboro protest at concert

US singer Ke$ha turned the tables on members of the adamantly homophobic Westboro Baptist Church earlier this week, when they picketed her concert and played a parody of one of her songs, she sent out her backing dancers for an impromptu performance.

The Westboro Baptist Church appeared at Ke$ha’s concert in Lincoln, Nebraska, and protested with their trademark “God Hates Fags”, posters.

Ke$ha has been commended for her reaction, as she sent her dancers out to accompany the church’s God Hates Who You Are, a parody version of her song We R Who We R.

We R Who We R includes lyrics about openness, and is considered by some an anthem for the LGBT community. The Westboro version of the song does quite the opposite, and refer to the singer-songwriter as a “slut”, and a “ho”, for supporting the LGBT community.

Back in January, the singer spoke out about bullying and being attracted to both men and women in Seventeen magazine’s February issue.

Ke$ha, 25, said “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”
