  1. This is a great move, and I hope that more of it will help to change the situation there.

Russians don’t seem to realize that their views are so backward this risks far more than simply upsetting people they don’t like already.

Ballet and theater is big business in Russia, and there are thousands of gay men involved in these artistic fields around the world. If they all decided to boycott Russia they will find that this national artistic enterprise will be severely damaged for decades to come.

Now we need to see theaters and those in ballet around the world also refusing to accept Russian tours, whether they are traveling there or receiving Russian companies.

    1. Thank you Marius for boycotting Russia.

    2. I hope the rest of Europe refuses to host Russian arts companies like the ballet who tour abroad.

The more of this the better. It will really shock the intelligentsia in Russia who then need to make their voices heard there.

Putin may be a philistine but he relies on the arts to promote Russia abroad.

They need to be kept out in the cold to see that you cannot be a part of the family while disowning your own children.

  2. Courage to boycott and expressed outrage is wonderful to see. Gay journalist James Kirchik took time on Russia Today’s network “news” program today to effectively express his anger over the treatment of Russian LGBTs :

Vielen Dank, Helge! Du bist sehr nett!

  4. Good for him… if certain Olympic athletes did the same their governments might be more serious about the plight of gay people in Russia. I really don’t get how you participate and enjoy yourself in a country that would otherwise persecute you. Solidarity like his is noble.

    1. Ah, but this requires a spine, and it’s increasingly clear that most sporting idols out there have none.

Because it’s all about the money, corporate sponsors and endorsements first and foremost.

      2. Sport is all about being selfish these days. I don’t know why people idolise these selfish individuals.

  5. mmmmmmm he can talk dirty in German to me anytime he wants…….

  6. Look at another disgusting NEW video gay teenager tortured by Russian homophobes
