    Oh excellent!!!

    And more of it please!!!

  2. Well done to the Minister!

  3. Thank you Minister.
Hope other politicians will do the same!

  4. Fantastic – hyvin tehty, Mr Minister!

  5. Diplomatic immunity! Now comes in 6 different colours!

  6. It’s so one dimensional. what about the Russians who will be on the receiving end of a beating for his flag waving. Any protest must me done with the consent of the local LGBT people

Basic Human Rights should be for all as mandatory not by request!

    2. You’re basically suggesting that victims should fear their bullies.
      Nonsense.
Anything can be used by those inclined to attack others, a politician waving a rainbow flag is not going to “justify” an illegal assault on anyone.
A crime is a crime, it doesn’t matter what the sick homophobes in Russia use as an excuse.

    3. I’m saying we should let the LGBT Russians take the lead on any protest. Let them tell us what’s best. It’s easy to poke a bear with a long stick but you’d think twice if you live in its cage

      1. They HAVE been protesting though and we ARE following their lead.

Where is the outcry against this from LGBT groups in Russia? There is none. Stop disagreeing from the sake of it.

      2. The very problem is the persecution of gay people, why are silenced by the “homopropaganda” law. Hence it’s really important that outsiders (who have the possibility to act) react!

  7. Good man! I would like to see every Western politician do this when they visit Russia at every opportunity. They are the only ones who will get away with it!

  8. Brave and admirable. And if anyone says, ‘”bad as the law may be, he should respect it”, I say “boll**ks”. If more people had stood up to Hitler pre-WW2, perhaps millions of Jews would have been saved from the gas chambers.

  9. Well done that man! It’s good to see that there are some politicians who maintain a spine.

  10. Thank you to the Finnish PM. I only hope more members of other governments will do this and stand for what is right.

  11. Good on you, Paavo. Fantastic news.

Way to go, mr Arhinmäki, you just got your self another vote in next elections !
Loistavaa. Paavo, ainoa ministeri jolla on vähänkään, no, tiedät kyllä mitä …

  14. Woo hoo!! Thank you Paavo Arhinmäk!

  15. Thank you, minister. I wish more politicians had your corage and integrity.

  16. Is this the first government minister to make a gesture of support? It might not be an official statement, but every visible support helps.

Maybe every nations government official could walk behind their national flag bearer and carry the rainbow flag! If they have diplomatic immunity they already have more protection than any one else in Sochi could ever hope for!
