  1. Its about time this was lifted…..more understanding and treatments makes it irrevelant….I wouldnt care if the person treating me was HIV as long as they did their job but looking at some of the comments on other sites ignorance is still around….I would say what I think of them but wont and leave you to guess

Am so pleased this is ending and qualified people will be allowed to work as they should.

  3. Hey all,
This says UK – but am not sure that it applies to all devolved administrations and then later says its England, Scotland and Wales. Could the writer check that this applies to Northern Ireland? I don’t believe it does or will as the ‘form’ for the Minister for Health in Northern Ireland suggests its unlikely to happen here.

The official Press Release talks about the whole UK and that means the rule change will include Northern Ireland, whatever the province’s health minister might want.
      It says:
“This change will bring the UK in line with most other Western countries.”

      1. ‘…The change applies in England, Wales and Scotland, but does not yet apply in Northern Ireland, which will make an announcement at a later date…’

          Thanks for that helpful clarification.

Time for people in NI and elsewhere to lobby the British Medical Association and others to press the NI Minister to get in line with the rest of the UK, continental Europe and across the border in the Irish Republic.

    2. northern ireland wont be participating in the lifting of the ban.

which means the decisions made around the ban are either product of homophobia or political correctness

Finally now can we get the homophobic ban on blood donating lifted?

To be fair it was this government that reduced from an outright ban to a 12 month ban.

I agree work still needs to be done but credit where it’s due.
