This just confirms what a primitive society #Russia is.

    1. Harry Underwood 12 Aug 2013, 12:45am

Nope, this just confirms the pervasiveness of Abrahamic religion from the US to the UK to Russia. This – whether it is said by this guy, by Antonin Scalia, by Donnie McClurkin, by Lord Dear, by Hassan Nasrallah or by a Chief Rabbi in Israel – is exactly what to expect from a Christian, Muslim or Jew unless proven otherwise.

This meme is destructive and anti-human no matter who says it or where they’re saying it from.

      1. That is of course true. But Russia is especially bad because it’s a very violent society which does not know the concepts of human rights and empathy.

      2. Yes it is the Abrahamic religions that are responsible for the spread of anti-gay hatred and lies and for creating homophobes… there can be no doubt about it.

        1. Abrahamic Religions were, are, and will always be a crime against humanity.

  2. I can not believe that this excuse for a human being is taken seriously in Russia – it just proves what an ignorant joke of a country it is.
I would have expected more intelligence and sensibility even from the Neanderthals.

  3. Is’nt it a bit ironic that the russians attack the lgbt comunity saying that we are sinfull & sick ,Yet many are Roman Catholic, who’s priests have been practicing homosexuals & even Paedophiles(quite a different thing to gay)for centuries, however The Church is seen as a beacon of light to the people of Russia!

    1. They are not Roman Catholic. They are of the Orthodox Church. They do not recognise the pope in Rome. In a lot of respects they are even worse.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox_Church

To be honest all Christian cults are as bad.

    2. Godric Godricson 12 Aug 2013, 10:48am

The Authorities have confused ideas of ‘sin’ which is a religious topic with ‘crime’ which is a civil matter. In effect the Russian federation has become the guardian of religious truth and in that union we can see Russia as a theocracy rather than a modern state. The Orthodox Authorities are as corrupt as the secular Authorities.

  4. Russia’s new law, as we are constantly being told, has nothing to do with homophobia, and is only concerned with the protection of children!

    1. That was satire – right?
How exactly does persecuting 1/12 of your young people (those who will realise their innate sexual attraction is to their own sex ) protect anyone.
The only result of this law is to perpetuate gross ignorance, promote bullying and negatively impinge on human rights to freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly and association, and to foster a climate of fear and repression.
It is also against Russia’s constitution (yes I have read it) and their international treaty obligations, EHCR, UN declaration of Human Rights, and common human decency and dignity.

      1. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 1:07am

Yes – irony. Completely lost on this site!

    2. What utter putin!

    3. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 8:32am

Do people still think that this is my own view? (Face palm!)

      1. Michael 2912 12 Aug 2013, 9:08am

It seems so. It’s hard to communicate irony in a couple of sentences and we are rather plagued by trolls who say exactly what you did and intend it to be taken literally. Have a nice day.

        1. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 4:56pm

Yes – but I did say that it was ironic – again!

  5. Looking at him he probably has lot’s experience having sex with a dog.

His comments are as sick as he and his law is. I hope the UK gov put him on a banned list for entering this country. As they should with all of Russia’s homophobic politicians.

    1. Christopher Coleman 12 Aug 2013, 3:12pm

“Looking at him he probably has lot’s experience having sex with a dog.”

Only if the dog were tied down and muzzled. No self-respecting canine would have anything to do with him.

  6. As a way to improve society, particularly democracy and ethics, I’d like all politicians to wear an electronic lie detector. Known lies are ones where you say something which you know to be untrue. All devices would have 3 LEDs. Each time you lie a LED would light up. When the 3rd one is lit you have used all your chances. Next time you lie you go to jail for 2 years, automatic detention, no trial, no appeals process, no early release.

I don’t believe this Russian politician believes what he says – it’s just political maneuvering. Surely nobody is this stupid. How indoctrinated do you need to be to believe such things.

    1. “Surely nobody is this stupid ”

Well her is another example :-

  7. Milonov is the one who is ‘sick’.

If his ignorance is representative of Russian politicians and the majority of citizens there, then the country is ‘sick’.

World Athletic Championships in Moscow now; Winter Olympics 2014; soccer World Cup 2018 – why have they been awarded these prestigious events to ‘showcase’ their country? That’s ‘sick’.

Stephen Fry’s bipolar depression is an illness, but Milonov, Russia and sports governing bodies are the ones who are really ‘sick’.

  8. Dear Athletes, Politicians & All Attending the Winter Olympics, PLEASE Make a STATEMENT & wear / wave Rainbows !!!

    1. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 1:09am

No. Please refuse to support Putin’s games!

      1. It’s actually better to be there and protest on international television, where it can’t be ignored, than to just not go/watch. At first I was like you, very much for the boycott, but I’m not persuaded that would solve anything on it’s own.

        1. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 8:26am

A boycottt would hit them hard, and damage Putin’s prestige. If the games go ahead as planned then he is laughing. I well remember the right wing opposing sanctions against apartheid, and using the same argument that we are hearing now: “It’s better to maintain contact with them and use that to try to influence them”. It doesn’t work, as they are fascists, and are not going to change their views whatever anyone says. They will carry on regardless as long as they think that they can get away with it.

    2. Moscow has just staged the World Athletics Championships. There hasn’t been any statements or wearing/waving of rainbows.

Athletes are just like politicians. Their ‘needs’ come first. The Winter Olympics will be ‘business as usual’ for them.

We should refuse to support anyone (athletes, politicians, attendees, sponsors, etc.) participating in the Olympics.

  9. It is appalling how Russia is harming gay children.

    1. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 8:30am

The supreme irony. Their oh-so-reasonable spokesmen have been appearing on TV to let us know that the purpose of this legislation is merely to “protect children”, and yet no one seems to be asking: “What about the gay children in Russia who feel isolated and vulnerable, and are in some cases taking their own lives?”

  10. Nice highlights.

  11. Religion once again the cause of pain and suffering.

I dream of a day when organised religions are seen for the lies and control mechanisms that they are and abandoned.

  12. That’s how his wife describes having sex with HIM!

  13. “As a person who dares to call himself a Christian politician, I cannot be a hypocrite,” said United Russia deputy Vitaly Milonov

Ok, in my experience it is almost a pre-requisite. In common with many religious fanatics he also does not realise that the “sin of Sodom” was the inhospitality to strangers or travelers and sexual rape, (as confirmed in at least two later “stories” ) in his handbook of “morality”.
I dont suppose it has occured to him that bearing false witness (lying) and appealing to peoples ignorance and base instincts of prejudice to advance his own career might be a sin against his Othordox Christian beliefs.
Arrogance and pride would seem to be some of his other attributes.

I look forward to watching Stephen Frys’ documentry on Russia and him soon on the BBC.

  14. Somebody please just put a bullet in his non-human parasitic head.

  15. I won’t watch the Sochi Olympics on TV.

    1. Aunty Babs 12 Aug 2013, 6:43am

why wait till then. Refuse to watch the Moscow Athletics thingummyjig thats on now. I have banned watching it my home.

      1. Not watching the Moscow Athletics at the moment tbh Aunty Babs and refuse to do so due to the treatment against LGBT citizens in Russia even though I am a big athletics fan.

      2. barriejohn 12 Aug 2013, 8:38am

I can’t understand the lack of protest. Are people unaware that it is happening? The BBC is giving wall-to-wall coverage!

        1. Russia is an enemy of humanity. Boycott anything Russian.

  16. Tonny Gille 12 Aug 2013, 3:14am

What is normal Vitaly Milonov? please tell us.

  17. RJ Abada OFM 12 Aug 2013, 4:32am

    what a hateful person

  18. Not just a homopobe, but also bigoted towards people with mental health conditions (or even those who used to have them)… this is a classy, classy man.

  19. There is only one sick person here and it is NOT Stephen Fry!

  20. Urso Chappell 12 Aug 2013, 8:50am

What isn’t being discussed is the fact that Russia is also bidding for one of the other three large international mega-events: a world’s fair/world expo in 2020 in Ektaterinburg, Russia:
    http://www.ExpoBids.com/

  21. I take it as a positive that the media feels it has to haul people like this one over the coals about their hideous views.

It’s effect is felt back in Russia.

  22. Jock S. Trap 12 Aug 2013, 9:55am

And here we see the problem and why the law is nothing to do with protecting under 18′s but more to give rise the discrimination and violence we’re seeing.

This law is to promote the hatred of adults once again using children to hide behind.

It’s the lowest of the lowest and yet again shows religion and the religious up for the devious, hateful, most evil things on this Earth.

    1. Don’t forget to add the grotesque was they are fining people, esentially lifting the vulnerable by their ankles and shaking the change from their pockets in a grotesque attempt at milking cash from the powerless.

  23. A disgusting and vile man.

  24. Celebrity Juice 12 Aug 2013, 10:55am

Isn’t that a picture of Keith Lemon?

  25. James Savik 12 Aug 2013, 11:25am

That’s funny: I compare being Russian to running around sniffing butts.

  26. *snore*

  27. Russia seems to be the “Africa” of Europe.

    1. oops now we are having our rascit moment

  28. Isn’t Vitaly Milonov the one that keeps replaying the videos of a shirtless Putin? Who do you think was holding the camera? They, also, are always seen together on “working holidays”, claiming they are just scanning the internet together for unlawful local gay porn and videos of guys screwing dogs.

Obviously, Stephen scored a direct hit to Russian’s ship of homophobia. Nice shot!

  29. Ah, poor mentally ill Keith – religious faith being a mental illness. You are actually the loser, for a very recent survey has found that Christians are less likely to get jobs, or, if they are employed, are less likely to be promoted. Then, of course, there is equal marriage; so, poor Keth, you and your ilk are the current and eventual losers.

  30. Ok Keith. You’ve made your point now. You can go and be sanctimonious. You don’t like these people, they don’t like you, so why bother? Let them die. Just go now and live your life minding your own business making sure you are a good neighbor, husband, father and community leader. Bye.

  31. Many people still believe the whole ‘choice’ thing is ‘still up for debate’. It isn’t! The debate is over ! The world is coming out of the closet, one agonisingly slow step at a time.

Less religion, more education ! Yes I adore dogs, but not like that !

  32. Poor mad Keith, your irrationality is the result of believing in religious nonsense. As far as a shorter life expectancy is concerned, I shall shortly be seventy seven, and I am probably in better health than you are for I have nothing wrong with me. I certainly have far better mental health than you have, for you appear to be deranged. Like many gay people, my partner of forty eight yearsand I are very comfortable as a result of the pink pound. We have probably done much better in life than you have; so much for the disadvantages of being gay!

  33. @keith-the-indisputable-loser

In order to provide an intellectual response there would have to first be an intellectual post to respond to – your post qualifies as ignorant, uninformed and uneducated.

You do realise that AIDS and HIV have absolutely no relation to homosexuality – of course you do not – further evidence of your ignorance?

Gay people’s life expectancy is exactly the same as a heterosexual of the same demographic – to suggest otherwise is disingenuous.

Of course we are aware of uneducated backward theocracies criminalisation of sexuality – which is why they are considered backwards by the progressive western world.

You do realise the number of heterosexual Africans in Africa with AIDS and HIV outnumbers the total infected throughout the entire world. Amusing how facts invalidate every tenuous point you have attempted to make.

You are a common garden variety homophobe – nothing special about you – now toddle off to your church as you must be due for a brainwashing.

  34. Staircase2 12 Aug 2013, 2:58pm

    Bloody idiot…

  37. Yes Russia is still medieval. They dont deserve their most famous composer Tchaikovsky who it is alleged was forced to kill himself in 1893 because of a scandal involving a soldier. One wonders about the Bolshoi Ballet. I dont know how many are gay but the Russians dont deserve such artistry. Obviously many Russians still have a peasant mentality.

  39. Fry stated, “All of the athletes, straight or gay, should perform a symbol that everyone in the world will know refers to the suffering of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Russia.”

    I agree wholeheartedly.

  40. …this does make me laugh, how can someone as ugly and pathetic come out with such a lame statement. I mean who on earth made him into god’s gift to MANHOOD!!!

  41. BillyFrance 12 Aug 2013, 4:09pm

Just a quibble, but the Black Panther salute was in 68 in Mexico.

  42. How does he know that being gay is like having sex with a dog..is there something he would like to share with his family, friends or the world?

  43. F@CK WIT Not worth saying anything else.

  44. This is a Russian F@CK WIT of a dog

  45. This man looks like the men your mother would warn you about….

Just because he shags dogs doesn’t mean that he should attempt to drag us down to his level. Small minded little p***k that he is

  47. I’ve always felt that it is better to be gay than be a cretin. Milonov has just proved my point.

  48. Robert in S. Kensington 21 Aug 2013, 11:14pm

And of course, the BBC grants an interview to this vile piece of human detritus, proof positive that it is homophobic.
