  1. Go Mike!

  2. Well done Mike Freer, I agree boycotting the Games will not work, moving them is the only option, lets get on it!

“The IOC has received assurances from the highest level of government in Russia that the legislation will not affect those attending or taking part in the Games,” a spokeswoman said.

In that case then they would have no problem with a PRIDE House within the Olympic Park, as has happened at previous Olympics.

    Thought not!

International Athletics Championships take place in Moscow from THIS Saturday, 10 – 18 August 2013.

What ever channels that are televised I will delete for the whole period. Should send a passive message to the televising companies. Let them waste their fees. Come on everyone take you 2 minutes to do.

  3. About time someone spoke plainly! Good for you, Mr. Freer. A ‘shaming’ on that scale may just make Russia see how vile a place it has become in the eyes of the civilised world.

  4. Woefully inadequate response.

I think economic sanctions against the fascist regime in Russia is a better idea.

Thank goodness. Mike Freer well said and thanks.

The more we all raise this then those with the clout will be forced to listen and act.

  6. Johnny Weir is silly, it is the Russian people who are inflcting horrific homophobic crimes on the gay popoulation. It is the Russian people who continually elect their homophobic Government despite awful attacks on LGBT activists and Pride marches, such as in Moscow at the time the Eurovision was held there. The Russian public are at very least complying with the Russian Government and at worst leading the way in homophobic attacks that the Russian Government simply provide some support to with homophobic legislation.
Moving the games is THE answer, the only answer, do not allow Russians to have the spotlight, take it away from them do not take the chance of competing or any other way of participating in the games from gay people. Mike Freer has made a sensible statement.

Your comments are rather foolish. Yes, we should take a stand on countries that behave in uncivilized ways. Russia, especially. For more than 40 years after the end of the second World War Russia interfered in the affairs of many countries, imposing its will on them by force. Hungary, Czechoslovakia …

Russia is now getting a small taste of its own medicine. They must get used to it. And so must you.

  8. Dress up your language all you like, your homophobia shines through.

You simply cannot justify it, you cannot say “Well, ___________ has it worse” because it is an infinate cycle, and I could easily say “Why should we worry about the victims on our own soil when the victims on other soil have it so much worse?”

Do you see how it’s a pointless argument?

I see many digsuting heterosexual activities in the media and in public, except I wouldn’t have the gall to deny them the right of expressing their true nature because I happen to find it undesirable.

The only reason homosexuality is seen as especially “digusting” is because people aren’t exposed to it, because it has been ruthlessly censored, and has been totally cleansed from view.

Gay couple’s are scared to do anything “disgusting” like kissing or holding hands and so you do not see us. We melt into the background, and when you DO see it, it comes as such an unexpected and unusual shock that you recoil in horror.

    1. Although you recoill in horror because of the sheer unexpectedness, the fact you never see it and are frightened of what you aren’t used to or what you don’t understand, people who are TRULY COMFORTABLE in their own skin and sexuality would see a gay couple kiss or be “disgusting” and think nothing of it. In the same way I see straight couples do some very digusting things, but have become completley de-sensetized to the point I am numb.

Isn’t it sad how people have become completley de-sensetized to shocking acts of violence and mutilation and disgustingly vulgar heterosexual sexuality, but the mere sight of 2 men kissing sends people in a hate-filled frenzy of disgust?

Do you have any idea what it’s like to have a love inside you so strong you can move mountains for it, but are constantly made to feel like a disgusting freak for it?

No, of course you don’t. Like you said, NOBODY finds heterosexuality disgusting.

You shove your sexuality down our throats 24/7, so shut up.
