Ex-Chelsea footballer: ‘Homosexuality is a disease that should not be promoted’
Former Chelsea player Mateja Kežman has criticised Dutch football manager Louis van Gaal for taking part in last weekend’s Amsterdam Pride.
However, Mateja Kežman, who had a short spell at Chelsea before leaving for Atlético Madrid in 2005, was not impressed by their actions.
A football site reports the 34-year-old retired striker telling reporters: “Surely it’s not up to me to tell [Van Gaal] he made a mistake, but if you ask me about the subject [of homosexuality], I have a problem with it.
“My opinion is that this is a disease that should not be promoted and I wouldn’t like if the Football Association of Serbia decided one day support the gay parade in this country.
“The Dutch are moving away from Jesus Christ and are heading towards spiritual destruction.”
Serbia is known for banning Pride events.
