  1. Why would anyone who isn’t conciously or sub conciously in conflict about their own sexuality express themselves so strongly about someone else’s sexuality?

I don’t go along 100% with the all homophobes are closet cases notion, some are just people whose default setting is disapproval of anything/anyone who doesn’t seem to be like they are, but there are cases which seem to shout out “closet case”.

    1. I agree, especially with your second paragraph.

    2. The Seven Reasons for Homophobia:
      1, Religious bigotry and ignorance
2, Self-loathing, to distract people from the truth
3, To scapegoat for politcal gain or to take hate/anger out on, as LGBT are ‘easy targets’
4, Misconception that you are born with it, but it’s a “glitch”, “accident”, “mistake”, “sin” or “against nature” – this is due to a terminal lack of education on the subject & the fact that we are drilled into us that the only purpose of life is to reproduce & so if life cannot pro-create it immediately becomes obselete.
5, Belief that it’s a choice, either a mental illness or a deviance practiced to deliberately undermine “traditional family values”, rebel, seek attention etc.
      6. The fact that homophobia has always been acceptable and encouraged, & people feel it’s still acceptable to hold or express such views.
      7. To get a rung up on the social ladder; used by teens to dominate peer groups; used by adults to assert alphadom & other minorities to gain acceptance…cont.

      1. These are (in my opinion) the 7 root causes of homophobia, it only takes one of these to make a homophobe. Like you say, many people believe ALL homophobes are merely closeted self-loathers but this is a dangerous and nieve view to adopt because homophobia is a complex web caused by many things, and can only be erradicated if we acknowledge, understand and counter ALL of the causes, not just one.

        1. Why are you consistently down rated? It makes no sense.

  2. While I like the judgement in theory, the reality is somewhat different.

He will apologise but there will be no meaning within it. The only winner there will be the newspaper who has the ad within it.

‘though, as it happened in Australia that’s not surprising’

  5. “The tribunal ruled, however; that the attack did not constitute vilification because it did not incite hatred towards gay men.”

Right, so, beating on a gay man for being gay isn’t inciting hatred unless you’re also shouting homophobic slurs as some kind of evidence for your motives??? WTF
