After saving her marriage proposal for after the defeat of California’s state-ban on equal marriage Proposition 8, actress Kristen Bell has since said she would he happy to get “gay married” to her fiance.

Kristen Bell took to Twitter at the end of June, following the Prop 8 ruling, to ask her boyfriend, Dax Shepard to marry her. The couple had said they would not get married until same-sex couples in their state had the same right.

The day before, the US Supreme Court effectively struck down Proposition 8 by voting not to take up the case, meaning that same-sex weddings could resume in the state of California.

Speaking to E! Online this week, Bell joked that she would like to celebrate the right of Californian gay couples to marry in her own way.

“I’ll get gay-married, absolutely,” Bell joked. She went on to speak more seriously of their engagement, saying: “We’re not having a wedding. It’s not a desire of either of ours to have any sort of day of celebration for us.

“I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper.”

She went on to say that she and Shepard planned to get married “any day”. The two actors dated since 2007 and got officially engaged in 2009.
