Good for them and kudos to the Judge. With the imperfections in our own Marriage Bill, I am thankful that no gay couple in our own country will ever have to go through what these two people have been subjected to. We are lucky to call the UK our home in spite of its flaws.

Yes, Robert, the story touched me deeply and happy (if one can be in this situation) for their small victory.

Well understanding these reserved rights for straight couples, we moved from Alaska to live here. My partner (and now husband) is dual national, Irish and American, permitting the move six years ago. We’re quite happy to call the UK home. We’ll see how long it takes in the US for it all to settle down but it will be some time before Alaska will be somewhere we could call home again.

Migration is a good and necessary solution but it doesn’t come without its difficulties for we who move — and those who oppose such moves. Sigh.

Jacob, glad you and your husband can call the UK your home. Let’s hope sections 1 and 2 of DOMA can be struck down to make SSM legal in all states. I think former speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats have started the ball rolling on that one if I’m not mistaken. I hope we’re all alive to see it happen.
