People can be horrible at times and you never know if the assailants were under the influence of some substance. However, I try to remember that most people are wonderful and that, on the whole, life is good for most of the time!

  2. Middle-aged and elderly homophobic bigots are now largely discredited. The biggest problem our society still faces is homophobia amongst older children and teenagers, and the negative effects of school bullying. This really needs tackling head on, in schools, sports and other areas of activity.

  3. What REALLY needs addressing is what MAKES someone ‘homophobic’. The ONLY explanation is self-hatred. If you have doubts about your own sexual attractions – attractions which religion and society has constantly told you are ‘sinful’, you are going to project that ‘hatred’ outwards – especially if you are trying to convince others that you are not gay. Homophobic attacks of this nature are MUCH more revealing about the perpetrators than they would EVER imagine. Recent extensive research in the USA and Holland prove this. The more homophobic you are, the more likely it is that you are gay and in denial.

    1. That’s the most tragic thing about all of homophobia. People don’t realise that most homophobes are actually just homosexuals who are so confused and conflicted because of what SOCIETY has told them they just go nuts.

They use verbal and physical attacks to say “HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK HOW /NOT/ GAY I AM”

If more attention was braught to the reasons behind such attacks, and the theories made public, then homophobic attacks will decrease substantially because the last thing a homophobe wants is for someone to suspect them as being gay. & If homophbia is the biggest tell-tale of being gay in the public psyche, the last thing they will do is speak or act on it aloud.

It makes me think of all those in opposition to our Marriage Bill including almost all of the CoE hierarchy. Perhaps that’s why there’s so much scandal in the RCC, a hotbed of closeted gay men including popes.

    Mr. Roberts:
Deer Park is a city on Long Island, which is over 100 miles long. The New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens occupy only a small portion of the western end of Long Island. The use of the logo for the Police Department of the City of New York is inappropriate.
