  1. This did make me chuckle!

  2. The dead should be respected – who ever they are.

    1. Such nonsense.

Hitler; Thatcher; Mussolini; Stalin; Franco; Idi Amin?

      1. You’re comparing Thatcher to people who murdered thousands of people? I may be left wing but I’m neither going to celebrate her death nor put her into the same ranks as people like Stalin and Hitler.

        1. Robert in S. Kensington 18 Jul 2013, 3:55pm

Well, Thatcher did entertain military dictator Augusto Pinochet of Chile for a conversation and chat over tea to thank him for his support during the Falklands War. Under his oppressive right wing regime, 1,200–3,200 people were killed, up to 80,000 were interned, and up to 30,000 were tortured including women and children. Such a meeting should never have happened.

          1. ‘including women and children’ – yes, because torturing women is a more heinous crime than torturing men.

        2. Two words: Northern Ireland

    2. Maybe the Westboro BC would care to remember that on their next picket.

    3. Tell that to the Westboro Baptist Church. It’s them who picket funerals.

    4. I hate to use godwins law… Hitler? Pinochet? Baby/papa doc? what should we respect them too? i mean come on they wernt great but there dead so fair play to them?

    5. I prefer to respect the living.

  3. The writer of this article is utterly relentless in his homophobic promotion of the Westboro Baptist cult.

Why does Pink News employ homophobic bigots to write for them?

    1. Say what?? I think you need to explain that sentiment a little!

      1. To even suggest homosexuals and satanist in the same article as one is not a good idea! When I read this, it gave me the sense of Satan being involved with homosexuality.. Maybe you don’t see it, but it’s there!

        1. Quite right, wouldn’t want to be associated with those undesirable satanists now that LGB’s are respectable.
Especially after all the bigotry satanists routinely use against LGBT people.

  4. That There Other David 18 Jul 2013, 3:34pm

I don’t like this at all. Let’s leave the craziness to the Phelps family eh? We don’t need to act like they do, and we certainly don’t need to crap on a grave to make a point.

    1. Well said

    2. Let them be as crazy as they want and let gay people get on with their own life…

  5. Julian Morrison 18 Jul 2013, 3:34pm

    Fight silly with silly?

  6. John in Toronto Canada 18 Jul 2013, 3:40pm

I don’t believe in satanism any more than I do any other religion, but this will undoubtedly be disturbing to the Westboro goons. I suppose any bug in their craw is as entertaining as it is deserved. Yet it is a little offensive that satanists too, believe that someone can be “made” gay. Supernatural circus.

    1. They don’t believe that – they’re obviously doing it simply to wind up the Phelps family.

      1. John in Toronto Canada 18 Jul 2013, 7:07pm

I’m not so sure about the former. The latter? Yes, definitely.

        1. Gay LaVey (lol) 18 Jul 2013, 10:20pm

Of course they don’t believe it! The vast majority of Satanists don’t believe in any god, devil or any kind of afterlife, they’re Atheists. It’s more of a philosophy and it just uses Satanist imagery to represent mans’ nature. They do use satanic images and may perform a Black Mass, but it is all entirely symbolic, a middle finger up/perversion of Christian Mass. The fact that most people think Satanists actually believe they are worshipping the devil is down to Hollywood and the Satanic Ritual Abuse scare of the 1980s; for which there has been very little evidence and it’s all been found false.
So, it’s kind of hard to actually believe a person can be turned gay in the afterlife if they don’t believe in an afterlife to begin with. This is noting more than a stunt to piss off and mock idiotic Christians and their pathetic beliefs.

  7. Barry William Teske 18 Jul 2013, 3:43pm

    Here comes a defining moment.

  8. I don’t deny that the westboro lot are horrible, nasty people; but, doing something like that is not going to open up relations between that church and any community affected by them. If anything it will increase their promotion of hatred.

    1. there will never be an “opening of relations” between the WBC and ANY of the groups they defile daily.

      these people are crazy.

they do it for money. half their members are lawyers. they sue people at the drop of a hat.
they are as offensive as they can be, then wait for a reaction against which they can then take legal action.

so no, you are deluded if you actually believe these people can be “changed” to become more accepting. their very mission in life is to make others miserable, then reap the benefits of their abusing the american judicial system.

  9. Poor taste but really rather funny.

  10. Colin (London) 18 Jul 2013, 3:54pm

Two wrongs do not make a right.

    1. Live by the sword die by the sword.

      Any more sayings?

      1. Yes, perhaps you are being as thick as two short planks regarding this issue?

        Satanists are not nice people.

What has Fred Phelps’ mother done to deserve this?

Would you like a bunch of satanists doing this to the grave of somebody you loved? Maybe not all people related to this woman are homophobic. Thought of that?

They are implying that homosexuality is a bad thing. Something to be used as punishment.

        1. I think you are in danger of taking them seriously.

The mother is no more, she is dead. The insult is to Fred Phelps and is exactly what he does by picketing funerals. Hence, live by the sword, die by the sword.

I don’t condone what they did but unlike you I also don’t feel sorry for the Phelps’s for bringing this on themselves. That is exactly what the saying Live by the sword, die by the sword means.

It means they brought it on themselves. It also means I am indifferent to their feelings as they are to mine. They have opened Pandora’s box with their actions.

          Boo hoo.

  11. “the Pink Mass is a Satanic ritual performed at the grave site of a deceased person, which changes the sexual orientation of that person in the afterlife.”

I hope this is just one big joke on their part !

    1. How can so many of the people posting here NOT see that it’s a joke?

      1. John in Toronto Canada 18 Jul 2013, 7:10pm

Because satanism is a religion as assuredly as christianity. They might-well believe in what they’re doing. (as amusing as it is)

      2. Hey, gay people aren’t immune from being brainwashed into crazy supersticious mumbo jumbo! I was 99% certain it was a joke but hey you never know in this world. Plus Satanists are nuts by default

        1. Also the Satanist with the horns is very cute, I’d let him do his magic on me any way.

      3. That There Other David 18 Jul 2013, 8:17pm

Because plenty of people in the USA won’t see it as such, and it may actually turn away some who would otherwise support us. The WBC are the best advertisement LGBT rights has in that country. Their craziness and insulting behaviour weakens the arguments of our opponents. If LGBT people start behaving in ways that similarly insult for the sake of insulting it will harm our cause.

    2. It’s a take off of Mormon afterlife baptism which they believe can turn the dead person into a Mormon .

  12. This is just plain stupid…..why sink to their level….just ignore these people and get on with life…

    1. Ever heard the phrase, “Fight like with like …”? The more vile, bullying, homophobic morons like the Phelpsssss get a taste of their own disgusting medicine, the bettr in my opinion. Ridicule the ridiculous …..

      1. Yes, and an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind…

      2. That There Other David 19 Jul 2013, 10:00am

We are better than that. We are better than them. We have no need for stoop to their level.

  13. white squirrel 18 Jul 2013, 6:08pm

in the ‘atheist expereince’ u tube ‘sex and the afterlife’ christian authors were qouted to the effect that the concepts gay/hetro do not apply in heaven – so according to that christian author phelps mother was already ‘gay’ but it had no meaning
of course she might be in ‘hell’ or ‘purgatory’ or ‘limbo’ or ‘nilfheim’ [cabt see her being elibigle for valhalla]
or any of thousands of other afterlifes that have bene invented

also given they were satanists – would not their ‘spell’ only work if the woman were in hell

and for all anyone knows she might be fellating goats or giraffes or porcupines

  14. Now we understand Fred Phelps’ hostility, he’s ashamed of the fact that his mother is a huge lesbian.

    1. In the afterlife!

  16. As low as the westborough cult.

    1. Their beliefs are as delusional yes, but isn’t it funny how the people who have long been pictured as “evil” are actually more accepting of LGBT people than many Christians?

      1. Do you mean satanists? Well of course, by Religious logic Satanists will LOVE the gays. Why do you think South Park turned Satan gay and had all kinds of storylines where Satan was actually quite a camp romantic guy? It’s to highlight the sillyness of the religious logic

  17. Michael Stevens 18 Jul 2013, 9:35pm

    I think it’s funny.

  18. white squirrel 18 Jul 2013, 10:40pm

I also wonder how the satanist get to check – is there some sort of ‘heavenly bodies’ porn channel where the veiw can watch the disembodied souls endulging is sexaul action- and how do disembodied souls have any sort of sexaual activity anyway
    or are ‘devices’ available

  19. white squirrel 18 Jul 2013, 10:46pm

there is a very simple olution to solve the problem of WBC

    gays join the wbc undercover
and when gay membership is high enough
just take over/vote a policy change

  20. Mark Cross 19 Jul 2013, 7:45am

The dead are dead. They don’t care any more, they can’t be hurt over this. When you and I are dead we cannot be respected or disrespected any more, only our memory among the living — is that what you’re talking about? And I say “bravo” to the Satanists for fighting the absurd with a fully aware absurd stunt like this. I hope the idea that the celebrants of both unions may have returned that evening to vigorously and repeatedly consummate their unions at the grave site, or that his mother is now somehow a ‘bull dyke’, makes Fred Phelps’ head explode.

    1. How can you say ‘bravo’ to Satanists, for goodness sake?! This is just mad- do you know what Satanism involves? I don’t believe in god but to paint these people as good because they have a go at Westboro Church is just mad.

How have we reached the stage where something awful is perceived as OK JUST because it -superficially at least- ‘supports’ gay people?

      1. I can see where you’re coming from, but as evil as Satanists think they are I’m willing to bet they cause a hell of a lot less damage than the “good” religious folk

    2. Wouldn’t it just be hilarious if it all turned out to be true, and as soon as they kissed over the tombstone Ms. Phelps who was chilling with Stalin and Hitler down in hell suddenly stood up and was like I NEED TO GET ME SOME PUSSAAAAY

  21. hahahahahah….i almost pissed myself, i so wanted to be there

  22. David Hancock 19 Jul 2013, 3:53pm

I know a lot of people find this very funny, but I do think it’s in terribly poor taste and, far from advancing the cause of equal rights by rising above the likes of West Borough Church, it provides them with extra ammo by affiliating gays with devil worshipers.

A tasteless and potentially damaging publicity stunt.

  23. David…they cannot do anything more damaged to the gay community as they already have.
It was funny and these people will never, ever, ever change.

    1. David Hancock 19 Jul 2013, 4:00pm

I agree – they can’t; but associating with satanists could certainly sway the opinion of other evangelical groups. So I stand by my comments.

  24. white squirrel 20 Jul 2013, 8:12pm

    what a great idea

given heaven is just made up nonsense and the pink mass is just made up nonsense

I declare by the power of the invisible pink unicorn that all ancestors are now born agian gays and lesbians
including but not limited to moses, jesus, muhammed, jospeh smith, L ron hubbard and mother Theresa

im pretty sure that was as valid and effective as the satanists ‘spell’
tho must admit cant say i have noticed anything different about the world

  25. I’d usually say disrespecting the dead is horrific, but because its to do with Fred Phelps and the most hated group in America, telling a 5 year old girl she’d burn in hell, I say this is actually quite a nice change. Some would say its a bit of karma for them. Good job haha. Sadly though the WBC will only use this as fuel to somehow believe that all gay people are satanic or do strange rituals.
