Sadly I think change will have to come from within for our Russian brothers and sisters. Russia doesn’t think it needs anyone else, and this kind of oppression is so much more insidious (in a “kill the gays” –slowly kind of way.) that I doubt there will be enough outcry from socially evolved nations to illicit much more than a middle finger from Putin and his ilk.

    1. Britain (and other nations) can help by boycotting the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Why has Britain not pulled out yet.

Russia has threatened LGBT fans with prison.

  2. Was that Dublin or Belfast Sinn Fein, incidentally? I commend Mr Crowe for his forthright statement on this issue.

    1. Sinn Féin is an all Ireland party. It doesn’t matter what part of the island the elected rep is from, the party speaks with one voice.

How un Canadian of you to make such a snide and frankly racist comment. That is the sort of comment made about the Irish when your ancestors were alive and dealing with such abuse… Thinking obviously isn’t a trait passed on to you by those same ancestors

  4. Now if Sinn Fein/IRA would just reveal to the families of the disappeared where the bodies of their relatives are, then I might start believing they had some regard for human rights… a

    1. Right and the DUP/UVF are a beacon of hope with uttermost regard for human rights and stand up for the gay rights…
