Adam Levine accuses talent show Idol of stopping people from coming out as gay

  1. Adam Lambert who was on American Idol in 2009 stated that American Idol was totally supportive of him and did not discourage or force him to not talk about his sexuality. Contestants shouldn’t have to address their sexuality on the show.

      You’re right, they shouldn’t have to address their sexuality but when Simon Cowell clearly markets specific contestants as straight to get young girls to phone in votes that’s the issue. There’s a litany of male contestants from the UK Pop Idol and X Factor who had their sexualities clouded until the show was over; Will Young, Aiden Grimshaw, Joe McElderry to name a few whereas other contestants who were straight were constantly reported in the tabloids re their relationships and one night stands with girls- Frankie Cocozza, Harry Stiles. Cowell is the problem.
