Yes, your god will change things around when he gives the nod to passage of the Marriage Bill. Do they really believe they can pray it away? Delusional demented loons.

    1. St Sebastian 12 Jul 2013, 12:30pm

      ‘Delusional demented loons.”

I woulld add ‘On a good day’.

    2. Exactly my thoughts. If god is powerful to turn things around, what’s the point in lobbying the lords? God will decide, anyway…

Also, if he doesn’t turn things around, will they accept that it was god’s will to see this law pass? Or will it means god didn’t get his/her way and therefore he isn’t that powerful… I wonder how they’ll spin that one…

      1. In Biblical terms, everything that happens is a fulfilment of the will of God – from the leaf that just fell off the tree outside to the next mass murder.

The word “will” has two meanings in the Bible. Let’s say that you commit a murder today. You have acted against the will (ie. precept) of God because God says, Thou shalt not kill. At the same time, you fulfil the will (ie. purpose) of God, because God caused you to commit that murder in order to punish you.

      2. Robert in S. Kensington 12 Jul 2013, 1:40pm

Oh, be prepared for the usual nonsense. They never really are able to explain why things don’t go their way but they’ll trot out the ‘on the day of judgement we are all answerable’ bilge. Even that they can’t prove. Freaks!

  2. Very Christian and loving attitude….NOT

    1. The word “love” in the Bible has nothing to do with tolerance, feelings, emotions, romance, etc. It’s a synonym for obedience to the will of God.

  3. Their logo in the video looks like a sign for mixed toilet facilities.

    1. Helge Vladimir Tiller 12 Jul 2013, 1:28pm

Yes, they are preparing for their recent discovery and amusement : Christian toilet sex.

    2. Helge Vladimir Tiller 12 Jul 2013, 2:01pm

For the time being, as you can see, just heterosex. But just you wait till next year when they really are experienced. The New Flavour will be their leading star ! Thank God-

  4. Proposition Infinity. That is all.

  5. Lying hypocrites.

Jesus said next to nothing about marriage.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/greg-carey/bible-weddings_b_887979.html

    1. Interesting that you go to the Huffington Post of all places for your theology..

      1. Beelzeebub 12 Jul 2013, 2:41pm

It was an article that postulates on the topic of the comment I made.

  6. Yes and since they’re asking for the assistance of invisible friends to scupper the equal marriage bill perhaps they can lobby Harvey the invisible 6 ft bunny rabbit.

After all, he came through for James Stuart in that movie, so… well you never know!

Failing that I hear Drop Dead Fred hasn’t been busy lately.

    1. That There Other David 12 Jul 2013, 12:24pm

Yes and James Stuart was King of England and Scotland once, so that will work too, because of ermmm Parliament or something.

Or maybe that was Stewart. Either way, Harvey is definitely the best target to aim your attempts on influencing the world with the power of your mind guys, so get your rabbit ears on and start prostrating!!! It’s for the Children!!! Won’t anybody think of the Children??!?!????!?!?

  7. That There Other David 12 Jul 2013, 12:20pm

Great. One of the funniest things on the news this year was watching how dejected the anti-LGBT protestors looked outside Parliament last time their prayers went unanswered (funny how prayers always do eh?). I look forward to seeing more utterly miserable faces on Monday evening after they lose again :-)

  8. What is the Big Gay Brass Band? Get your names correct.

  9. If these silly cultists spent as much time & money on fighting child poverty as they do fighting to keep gay people from having equal rights we might not have 20% of British children living in poverty right now.

  10. Christians are only ‘concerned’ because the rationality and reasoning behind their following of a god, they can not prove exists, is falling on more and more deaf ear’s! I am getting more house calls then ever from bible bashers and now more of them are setting up tiny stalls outside supermarkets etc to bang away their godly message. Sounds like more of an act of desparation from a failing church that frankly does not in my opinion, even have the right to be sitting in the House of Lords! This rally is just a bleat from a homophobic bunch of right wingers who’s voice is lost in a sea change of equality and respect.

    1. Rev David J.M. Coleman 12 Jul 2013, 6:06pm

Don’t be so crass yourself as to presume that this is the only ‘Christian’ response. otherwise I agree with your last sentence.

  11. Actually, i think the video is very timely and extremely helpful. You see many people like myself and my civil partner (soon to be husband) do our weekly grocery shop on Saturdays and it can be quite expensive. Thanks to this video we now know the world will fall into ever lasting eternal damnation around tea time on Monday. So am now thinking we’ll just do a light shop. No need for the usual 4 pints of milk but possibly get an extra bottle of Hendricks to mark the occasion? Also cancelling the car’s MOT for Tuesday and the boiler service on Wednesday. Glad i didn’t top up my Oyster card yesterday. Might buy some fruit cake though – after all – the 4 riders of the apocalypse might be quite hungry by the time they arrive.

    1. That There Other David 12 Jul 2013, 12:38pm

Does that mean we can blame Christian Concern if the retail figures are down next month and we end up back in recession?

Mind you, I suppose we’ll all be crossing the Styx by then so what would it matter?

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 12 Jul 2013, 1:43pm

One other thing you can add to that list. Don’t pay your tv licence.

    3. Not only that. My mother was thinking of taking out a contract for solar panels on her house. Apparently there’s some new government scheme. Fortunately as i’ve now been able to explain to her that the world will be in permanent darkness from Tuesday onwards – she’s decided not to go ahead as there’s unlikely to be any reduction in her energy bills moving forward. Very thrifty

  12. Although gay marriage is pointless and self-defeating-how many men actually want to get married full stop-gay or straight, does god-if he exists which is doubtful – really care if gay people married?

    1. bobbleobble 12 Jul 2013, 1:02pm

Well firstly gay couples aren’t just male, second there are plenty of male couples marrying in the countries and states that currently allow it, thirdly I know plenty of men both hetero and gay who want to marry including myself and my partner. By all means don’t marry if you don’t want to but don’t try to assume that your opinions are fact or even representative of the world at large.

  13. Stupid christians with their blinkered ideology can’t see that the countries where there is equal marriage have had no plague and pestilence. Clearly their imaginary friend is impotent.

    1. St Sebastian 12 Jul 2013, 12:56pm

      Stupid christians – that’s a tautology isn’t it? lol

      1. no, I think it’s an oxymoron

        1. actually, on second thoughts, you were right.

      2. I’m guessing that the people who down-voted this comment don’t know what tautology is.

  14. I see!

So. A bill that has passed with a massive majority in both houses and has massive public support is making there god unhappy.

One would have thought, what with this lovely weather and all that he is well pleased with the results so far.

I am yet to witness a smiting incident.

By all means huddle together in your pious crowd, hands clasped together talking into thin air, but it ain’t going to amount to a hill of beans.

    Never has. Never will.

    Deluded goons.

  15. So if God doesn’t “change things around”, does that mean that He approves of SSM? Or that Christian Concern didn’t pray hard enough? I try really hard to be respectful of other people’s religious beliefs, but it’s difficult when they aren’t even internally consistent.

  16. SO if their God is sovereign and his wishes always come through, does this mean that they will accept that the house of lords is his instrument whichever way they vote?

And putting that idiot Burrowes on their video does not really help their cause…

Love they neighbour and let God do what he does best, judge us when we are dead… if he exists!

  17. Helge Vladimir Tiller 12 Jul 2013, 12:53pm

What a sordid video with depressing music! Let us meet this fascism with happy and gay tunes. Their mood belongs to a funeral- Ours to The Future- Life and LOVE !

  18. Robert in S. Kensington 12 Jul 2013, 1:05pm

Believe me, when it passes on Monday, you’ll hear them rant the most absurd reasons why their prayers weren’t answered. None of them will have any logical explanation as to why their efforts failed even though they claim that the majority of the British public are against the legislation.

I’ve no doubt that the hatemongers bombarded both Houses with emails and letters, far outnumbering supporters yet this Bill has passed every stage and they can’t even figure out why.

  19. Mumbo Jumbo 12 Jul 2013, 1:06pm

It’s like something off The Onion.

  20. comments and ratings are disabled for the video.
I guess their “god” isn’t good enough to stand up to discussion and public opinion.

    1. I just went to youtube and found this, they have also disabled the rating of thumbs up and thumbs down. So they have no confidence in their god at all.

      1. Midnighter 12 Jul 2013, 5:37pm

Have you never noticed that Church rooves have conductor rods? ;-)

  21. michaelandfred 12 Jul 2013, 1:27pm

If it keeps them busy. I’m wondering when they’ll realize that in not a single place where they have tried to “pray away the gay marriage” has it worked. It’s almost as if god doesn’t agree with them….

  22. Robert in S. Kensington 12 Jul 2013, 1:48pm

I could smell Burrowes’ dirty hands all over this one. Yet another demented swivel eyed loon who shouldn’t be an MP. Everyone of his wrecking amendments was shot down in the Commons Committee hearings. Every time he opened his mealy mouth, I cringed.

  23. kelvin Beer-Jones 12 Jul 2013, 1:50pm

Christian Concern is to be congratulated on an excellent video. Not since Goebbels made Juden Aus films in the Third Reich have I seen more impressive wachet auf! propaganda. This also makes it much easier for ‘real’ Christians like me to identify the anti-Christ living in most of today’s churches.

  24. This video is hilarious! I love the music, too funny.

    1. The video is utterly over the top Chris Morris would be so proud :). I though the music was by Dead Can Dance at first. For a moment I thought the skies were burning red with fire behind the graphics!

  25. bobbleobble 12 Jul 2013, 2:11pm

It’s basically the same video they showed back in June during the second reading debate. No doubt it will have the same effect as that one. It reminds me of the gathering storm NOM ad which was so lampooned by everyone.

Seems that the devil may have got the best tunes but apparently god got some mediocre graphics guys with little imagination so I guess they’re all square.

  26. I wonder if they’ll have to import their supporters as they did last time, from continental Europe.
Last time they held a prayer gathering to ‘pray away the gay’. They had so little interest from the British public they had to import support from France, who’d just recently passed a same sex marriage bill themselves.
Christianity in the UK is dead in the water. There are many ‘cultural christians’. But that says nothing about their beliefs, and even that demographic is shrinking. While secularism enjoys a huge surge in numbers.
Nobody wants the nation run by principles based on a draconian iron age myth anymore.

  27. Colin Andrew 1966 12 Jul 2013, 2:24pm

Why weren’t this lot ever protesting against the blatant greed of the financial sector? The bible says “It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven”.

  28. They told us the Sun revolved around the earth. They supported slavery. They treated women as property and denied them the same rights as men. They have caused the deaths of untold millions for their ideology.

    Who are we talking about?

    Christians!

I hope they have spent a fortune on this. It would be nice to see them bankrupt!

  29. Robert in S. Kensington 12 Jul 2013, 3:47pm

“Pray4Marriage”? Why yes indeed Christian Concern. That’s exactly what is going to happen on Monday when the Bill passes, stupid twats!

  30. Will they actually prayer for the god to do what they want? Or for the god to do what their god wants??
    Not clear.

  31. CH Brighton 12 Jul 2013, 4:38pm

They sound like ancient magicians casting spells via an unseen all-pervading secret power that only they have access to. When their spell fails they’ll have to creep home on the tube with their tails between their legs. And then, just shut up!

  32. I’m a Christian. I’m also bisexual and support equal marriage. If we’re arguing about the sanctity of marriage, I’d like to stop idiot celebrities from treating marriage like an excuse to have a piss-up then divorcing ten minutes after the last of the party hats has been tossed out. That kind of attitude is damaging; two men or two women who love one another choosing to marry absolutely isn’t. These people are using God as an excuse for clinging to bigoted viewpoints they’d have been clinging to anyway, faith or no faith.

Please don’t assume that all Christians are narrow-minded, swivel-eyed, hate-filled loons. Yes, sadly some of us are, and speaking entirely for myself I think they’ve missed the point of their faith. You just don’t hear about the rest of us because we don’t feel the need to make obnoxious displays of ourselves in support of shameful double standards and bigotry. Pray for marriage? Sure. For equal marriage, for everyone.

    1. Rev David j.M. Coleman 12 Jul 2013, 6:08pm

Thank-you Lalla – God bless you!

  33. Rev David j.M. Coleman 12 Jul 2013, 6:00pm

A sad exercise in messing around with a video effects package, virtually a parody of itself.
My prayers will be for an end to senseless scaremongering, an opening of minds and hearts to the best that marriage can be, irrespective of the orientation of the partners. The evidence is there in the lives of our friends and neighbours. I pray that those who like to pray will learn to use it to support those couples who enter into the discipline and faithful commitment of marriage. So let us pray – not just for equal marriage, but for a change of heart on the part of those who presume exlusion on God’s behalf.

  34. Interesting news on the Christian Concern website. They’ve cancelled their prayer meeting because they say no vote will be taken at the Third Reading so nothing to pray about.

    http://www.christianconcern.com

Of course a vote has to be taken, either a voice vote or through the lobbies to finalise the bill’s passage at Third Reading through the Lords, so what do they mean? I can only think that they have heard that no more amendments will be put up apart from maybe government ones which up to now have been agreed without a vote – but on Wednesday the Bishop of Leicester “reserved the right” to bring back his amendment at Third Reading and maybe has leaked that he has decided not to, and Lord Dear has run out of ideas for any more wrecking amendments, they don’t want to stand around to hear it has passed – but I’m only guessing at this stage. Perhaps the thought of the Gay Men’s Chorus with brass band scared them off……

  35. ‘Pray for marriage’ – what they really mean is Join Us in Our Hatred – these social misfits are anti-Christs – they stand for everything a true christian would recoil from.
