Big Brother in the US has aired footage taken of a housemate who made homophobic and racist comments, following calls for the comments to be revealed to the public.

Several housemates made offensive comments, which were picked up on the live feed by media outlets, however until Sunday none of them were aired on the edited version of the show.

The segment on Sunday focussed on Aaryn Gries, who was last week dropped by her modelling agency after she referred to a gay housemate as “queer”, and said to an Asian-American housemate to “shut up and go and make some rice”.

Talking about housemate Andy’s nominations, she said: “No one’s going to vote for whoever that queer puts up”.

Another housemate GinaMarie Zimmerman, who lost her job last week in similar circumstances to Gries, was exposed for making a racist comment about Candice Stewart, who is African American. Speaking to Gries, she said Stewart is on the dark side “because she’s already dark”.

Last week, US television network CBS which owns the show, condemned the abusive language but did not suggested that anyone would be evicted for using such language.

A Change.org petition has also been started calling for the eviction of Gries, which was signed by over 13,000 people at time of publication.
