  1. FB only recently bowed to the pressure of a boycott from BSkyB and M & S because their ads appeared on an innocent page for young gay men/teens.

If you really believe what you say perhaps you could put your money where your mouth is.

  2. This story speaks to the fact of how far gay people have become mainstream and visible in Western society. It also speaks to having further to go.

It tells us little about Zuckerberg and facebook – true or fairweather friend, who can tell?

I think Russia has it’s own versions of facebook – a rip-off of the original design, partly because the real facebook wasn’t available in the Russian language for some time. Russians do also use facebook, but how will it work in Russia? Will facebook agree to block any page which has any discussion, support for, or mention of people who are gay?

Will facebook simply refuse to do that? If so, would Russia fine or ban facebook?

Facebook’s appearance at Pride is a major asset to progressive politics, equality and fairness.

Hate to be picky but our history, and how it is commemorated symbolically, matters.

I think the shirts worn by Mark Z et al were violet. Purple is not, and never was, among the colours of the Pride flag. They’re currently red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.

    1. Isn’t their a wear purple day in America in support of gay rights?

      1. GulliverUK 2 Jul 2013, 11:41am

Spirit Day, and yes, that’s purple.

But purple, lavender, violent, they’re fairly much the same – there is no absolute any colour but just shades. You can see that homebase when they have 20 different versions of White paint !!!

Thank you. I didn’t know that.

  4. Yes lets pretend that everything is ok in SF. Right wing gay people have taken over and the homeless LGBT people live in fear in homophobic shelters

    we should be proud

Yes. Let’s all be miserable instead.

      1. Yes lets all holiday in Jamaica too!

Great progress! In Toronto, the first openly gay premier of a province in Canada, Premier Kathleen Wynne of Ontario, rode in Toronto’s pride parade with the future PM of Canada, Justin Trudeau (hopefully!) and 1.4 million others! Woohoo!

  6. A giant corporation sends 700 of its employees wearing its logo to a gay Pride parade… I fail to see what it is more than a free self-promoting exercise. A clever PR coup.

    1. blah, blah, blah…

before: they don’t support us so they are bigots…

now: they support us so they are opportunists…

  7. marky likey money 29 Jul 2013, 2:07am

  8. thanks for free promo suckers, don’t die of aids now
