    Totally agree.

After all we all pay the same tax… equally.. so pensions should be equal too.

It’s completely unfair to think one group in society get all but another doesn’t when it comes to pensions.

The LGBT community pay the same tax so give us the same treatment.

    1. Meant to thumb this up, but accidentally reported it. Apoloigies!

        No worries lalocura :)

  2. Thanks for this.

There’s been a lot – a LOT – of nonsense talked about the ECHR lately. The ECHR is not going to force churches to marry same-sex couples. Nor is it going to mandate civil partnerships for cohabiting siblings.

But the ECHR is going to find this pensions silliness illegal, since it’s discrimination of the most blatant kind. And it’s reprehensible that the government is going to wait until a grieving widow(er) takes this to court rather than doing the decent thing now.

House of Lords – make yourself useful and sort this out.

  3. The ECHR may have to be involved in sorting this inequality it deserves to be challenged it is blatant discrimination.

  4. Mike Freer really is becoming a great MP and a fantastic spokesperson on LGBT issues. Great article, clearly explaining where the discrimination on this complex issue lies. Who knew – a sensible Tory? Well done, Mike.

  5. Seems to me that this is a issue that could well end up in the Euro courts

£18m has been the estimated sum to resolve this (it will become a diminiishing issue as time takes its toll)/

That’s a rat’s sneeze of a sum compared with what is wasted by companies and the public sector daily!
