Firstly I am sorry to hear this news. Poor Ms Hale – 19 good years thrown away. This is wrong. How can anyone justify this on any grounds. Come on USA people take this to Congress.

UK – We must not allow any religion to step outside the laws of our country.

    We must learn from above.

Discrimination by the back door. All religions must be under the states rule of law. No-one allowed to use the “religious card” as a way to stop progress in an inclusive society.

  2. I am appalled that her union did not stand by her. This is outrageous. this church and the union should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. religious freedoms must not champion the human rights laws of the country. whether she had a contract or not . The contract was against the constitution and the bill of rights to begin with.

  3. Ahh, yes…..the collective voices of true Christians. It must be an awful risk trying hard not to crash their halos into each others.
    Bloody hypocrites.

  4. A Catholic School!

I went to a Catholic school run by the Presentation Brothers in Ireland.

It’s a school with an excellent reputation – many of Ireland’s top doctors, lawyers have come from its hallowed walls as well as number of notable Irish Rugby stars.

    But don’t be fooled.

Back in the 70s this school was a playground for bullying Christian brothers, a number of whom who took sadist pleasure in regularly beating us.

I was beaten so badly on one occasion, I wet myself.

Then there was the sexual abuse.

Similar horrors went on in Catholic Schools worldwide, particularly in America.

Not one of the perpetrators in my school was ever taken to court. None one dared.

Yet here we have this dedicated lady who for 18 years has enjoyed an unblemished teaching career to loose her job as she’s a lesbian.

What I would have given for the pleasure of having this lady teach us, rather than some sexually frustrated and angry men who collectively called themselves – Christian Brothers.

and if I was president, the catholic school admin board would be eliminated, and the woman would be collecting a multi million dollar harassment and discrimination lawsuit paid solely by those who discriminated against her.

If she was a man and was caught molesting a child the Diocese would just move him to another school, but she’s a woman and she has an adult partner so the Catholic Church just can’t stand her.

This is truly shocking. The wretched, sanctimonious catholic church junking a woman’s service, talent, skill, contribution, loyalty and humanity simply because it disapproves of the person she loves. In fact, it’s more than shocking, it’s vile.

  8. …..and the vile act of the anonymous parent who wrote to the school. Do they feel righteous after having done such a mean thing? I hope their child reacts appropriately if and when they ever find out and what type of parents they have.

  9. I am very sorry to hear this is the final outcome for Ms. Hale. Religion and the abusive interpretations by people of faith is not just gathering support in the US, It seems all faiths are gaining followers filled with hate and venom. I hope this is not the end of this story, that with time and support Ms. Hale will win constitutional rights!

I realize I am slightly off topic… although the connection of faith and evangelical groups from the US was discussed on the CBC Canada today. I hope people excuse me using this connection to post this.

It appears that the Uganda “KILL THE GAYS” Bill is to be tabled in again in the next couple of days. A prominent Ugandan LGBT activist was interviewed at length today and spoke of US groups being the primary basis of the growing bigotry in his country. The interview is informative and I hope people take advantage to download the podcast from the Current @ CBC Radio Canada.

    1. On the contrary Steve_R this is a very important point that you make.I have written to my MP a couple of time now & it would seem that the U.K Government has had some success in putting this bill back a couple of times ,to hear that this bill is being attempted Again is seriously worrying! It would appear that it is more & more important that the LGBT Brother & sisterhood throughout the World Stand together in this Fight against the despots!

  10. So much for the interpretation, yet again, of Christ’s teaching by what they (the RCC) claim is His Church.
They haven’t a clue; never have had; never will have.

  11. I feel for her, what a terrible thing to happen and only because some vicious person seems to troll the Obituaries.

I hope that she decides to fight this even further and if she does, then I wish her well.

  12. “Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction.” ― Blaise Pascal

  13. Why is it that these so called Christians can argue that they should be exempted of teaching about homosexual relationships because of their beliefs (which can be changed) but when people dare to say they are gay (which cannot be changed) they get sacked?
    Total hipocrisy.

    1. hoomoodeviance. detector. 13 Jun 2013, 1:04pm

You are saying that you cannot change your sexual orientation. This means that you believe a straight cannot become gay?

      1. That is exactly what I’m saying. If you have SCIENTIFIC evidence of the contrary please show it (NOT your biblical fairy tale stories or biased “studies” paid by religious bigots).

      2. Of course they can’t. No more than I can change the colour of my eyes from grey to brown. Being gay or straight, transgender, gender queer, asexual IS NOT A CHOICE.

  14. hoomoodeviance detector 13 Jun 2013, 12:20pm

The deviants need flushing out of our education systems for fear they will pass on ungodly influences to our vulnerable young.
Would you want a porn star teaching children? No, because although legal, their lifestyle is immoral.. It is the same with homosexual teachers.

    1. frankly, i’d rather have Mrs Hale teaching my 6yr old daughter than you. as far as i am concerned, you and your ilk are the deviants.

I attended Catholic School from kindergarten to graduation, and it did not change the fact that I am a lesbian. I have denounced all Catholic teachings and beliefs. My partner attended Mercer and majored in religion. She has more faith than most straight people I know. My point is that, homosexuals can be Christians. We now attend Pentacostal services where we are accepted and we can worship in peace. Ms. Hale was judged and condemned for her personal life. Shame on them! She has served that school for 19 years without incident, and now they just throw her away.

    1. David in Indianapolis 14 Jun 2013, 9:37pm

I was raised Roman Catholic, but I stopped attending Mass years ago. The hate and judgment I experienced was appalling.

Lately, I’ve been going to unprogrammed Quaker services. Quiet, serene, non-judgmental, and peaceful.

      I love it.

  17. So THE Catholic Church feels high & mighty enough to destroy this poor womans life , With its record of Perverse actions going right back from historic times to present day!It would seem the words JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED ! would seem appropriate!

  18. Don’t these ”GOOD CHRISTIAN PEOPLE” in the U.S.A who are sending money to UGANDA to promote THE KILL THE GAY’S BILL are paying thier money to have innocent people MURDERED! Last Christmas when it was attempted to bring this bill in it was described as ”A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THE UGANDAN PEOPLE” How perverse is that? How Christian?
