    1. Whats the bet that conservative Eastern European countries like Romania wil adopt equal marriage before Australia.

      1. Very likely.

  2. The Australian Labor Party has Julia Gillard! Say no more!

  3. It will now be at least another 6 years before there is any movement on gay marriage in Aus. Gillard will go down as one of the greatest enemies of gay people in Australian Labor Party history. I thought she might have been good when she first got in, but she has broken the heart of the Party – and now we will get Abbott – God help us!

I am truly puzzled by Gillard’s opposition to equal marriage. There must be something behind the scenes to explain it. I wonder what.

    1. She made a deal with the Australian Christian Lobby in order to get elected.

Surely they support the other guy. Maybe the Catholics support Labor?

By the way, why do the Australians spell use the American spelling of labor? Dont they use British spelling for colour, favour, saviour etc?

        1. Archbishop, the Catholic right dominate the ALP throughout the country, but they are also in bed with the ACL. Both Rudd and Gillard have not shown any leadership on same-sex marriage, Rudd only last week says he now supports same-sex marriage. Too little, too late. But it doesn’t matter what any Labor person says because on September 14th, the Federal Labor Party are about to be decimated on election day and they will be in the political wilderness for some time. ‘True’ Progressives will gain a lot into the future, by having an arch-conservative Abbott Government in power and to attack. Abbott and his cronies won’t be able to help themselves. It won’t be pretty but I think it has to get a lot worse before we have the next ‘progressive decade’ Many on the left will not preference Labor because they are seen as traitors in regard to so many issues. I will be putting Gillard Labor LAST on the ballot paper. Cannot wait to see Gillard on the scrapheap of history.
