  1. Good luck!

Nice to see that the tide is slowly turning over the U.S

    1. Wherever the tide is turning, it won’t change things in Michigan for a while. This is the state where over the course of the last 4 years, several pretty much specifically anti-gay laws were passed. Not that they said the word “gay”, but one – for example – banned municipalities from giving benefits to partners of employees (while it’s not gay-specific, the workaround the state constitution allowed pretty much lgbt employees to get benefits for their partners).

Americans are so myopic and xenophobic. One mile east, across the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair/Lake Huron, gays get married every day in Ontario. It boggles the mind…

To be fair, this comment doesn’t represent the emerging reality as D.McCabe notes above you. Until recently myopic and xenephobic attitudes prevailed, but it seems that was for reasons other than democratic representation.

Americans have had to face some harsh truths about the nature of religious fundamentalism and I believe (and hope) that they are learning that harmful influences exist at the extreme ends of all religious and political spectra whether they are familiar faces or not.

Ur so right about how next door to the U.S. is Canada, It would be nice if maybe Canada would take a moment to umm idk help us. Maybe tell states especially the one’s closes to you how Equal Marriage is a good thing, say maybe you guys been doing it for sometime and its going well. But when you can Canada i’d appreciate it. NO America would appreciate it. <3 Love You Canada !!

    3. Stop being so smug. It’s not as if equal marriage came to that country in a wave of enlightenment by exceptionally embracing Canadians…it was through court rulings. Poll numbers in Canada in support of equal marriage still aren’t that impressive, even after a decade after legalisation…and in some places it’s below 50% support.

Good luck with Republicans having a SUPER-MAJORITY in the state legislature and the control of the Govonorship as well!

Michigan will have SSM in 2021 I predict!

Get those signatures and start campaigning for a constitutional amendment FOR gay marriage as they have done next door in Ohio just recently as well!

New Jersey in 2015, Wisconsin in 2016 as well!

Ohio will have SSM in 2016, Australia federally in 2017. Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia in 2024

Oklahoma, Utah, Texas and Mississippi in 2059.

      Add:

“California, Oregon and Nevada will have SSMs in 2016 (at the earliest)!

Montana, Idaho, Georgia will have SSMs in 2034″
