It’s great to hear enlightened people speak out about equal marriage. It out-weighs all the ignorance from France and Russia.

  2. Well, Maurice is a sweetie and a standout centre-right social liberal. He’s sort of the New Zealand National Party’s version of an updated Edwina Currie, to put things into British terms, only without the John Major attachments.

Wonderful for a conservative MP. Our own should take note and those in the Lords. I’ve always said the marriage bill only affects gay people nobody else.

    1. To be absolutely fair, the fact that the Conservative PM here has resolutely followed up on his commitment to getting equal marriage through has generated quite a lot of astonished admiration from rigorously anti-Conservative Australian friends of mine.

I think even in much-less-polarised NZ Williamson is a welcome breath of fresh air in the National Party. His dry wit and down-to-earth approach to the subject is certainly extremely attractive.

  4. He may be qualified in computer science, applied mathematics and physics but he is not a “pastor” who talks to god, he even lacks the credibility of being a rapper?

Seriously, what a breath of fresh air it is to hear people of this calibre speak out.

  5. I hope that Maurice Williamson’s office has sent this letter on NZ-parliament letter-headed paper to every peer in the UK House of Lords.

  6. If only this man would come to the UK and tell some of the dinosaurs in Parliament and the Lords the same thing.
