I a greatly disappointed that Rick Perry exists. Unfortunately, we can’t all get what we want.

And I am greatly disappointed that a group of humans would elect such an air-head to any public post. So much for collective common sense… Here in Canada this evening, there was on the Documentary Channel a show called “The Anatomy of Hate”. Very interesting. Examined such groups as KKK, Israelis and Palestinians, etc. Reminded me of Rogers and Hammerstein’s “You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught” song from South Pacific.

      1. Hey, you’re talking about the same country that elected Reagan and Bush for 2 consecutive terms! Believe me, there are no bounds for stupidity in this country (not that Britain is in any better shape).

    Last item on the list:
“Finally, Bryan Fischer predicts that the Boy Scouts of America will reject the proposal to end the ban on gay scouts and says the BSA president should be fired.”
Like how Mitt Romney won the November election, eh?

I guess Rick Perry thinks that homosexuals are a new thing? They were there while he was a scout, and he isn’t gay, or at least he isn’t sharing if he is or not. But come on, Scouts was about learning and growing, in all areas of your life, learning to be a good person, sex and sexuality were never part of what they taught, and there was no merit badge for it. Why do they allow woman to lead scouts when they are little and not demand men do it. Should we allow woman to teach our boys, that might be the real problem.. Come on now, let’s get over our stupidity and hang ups.

Hmmm…anagram server results for “Governor Rick Perry” include:
    Cry Erring Provoker
    Crook Nervy Err Prig
    Cry Erring Over Pork
    Cry Porker Rev Groin
    Cry Re Err Provoking

…coincidence? Or has Almighty God revealed the truth about Rick Perry to me to share with you, o ye gullible ones? Forsake this evil one! :)

He’s not as much evil as he is an all-around ass-clown. The nation’s second most populous state couldn’t do any better than this stand-in for Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast”? All sizzle, no steak, the lights are on but no one is home with him…

The last time Governor Good Hair was so disappointed was when he had trouble picking up tricks in a park!

  6. Rudehamster 24 May 2013, 7:28am

    Odious slimeball, isn’t he.
This decision is still a cop out from full acceptance and is open to localised homophobia.
The fact that gay men aren’t allowed as Scout leaders, repeats the horrible accusation that straight men are trustworthy, but gay men are paedophiles.
    America, Land of the Free.

  7. Call the Republican national committee. He must have escaped from one of their privatised facilities. You know – one with dogs and electric fences to keep people OUT. – Oops!!

  8. barriejohn 24 May 2013, 9:35am

Can he really be so naive as to not realize that the Boy Scouts have ALWAYS had gay members. Doh!

    1. Shhhh… don’t provoke it with facts! If we stay very, very quiet it might not notice us and move on.

That’s what you’d prefer, isn’t it, Governor Prick? A bully and a bigot, plain and simple.

  9. …… not as disappointed as I am that Texas ever appointed such a weird, bigotted homophobe.

  10. Rick Perry, lol. What an embarrassment.

  11. Spoken like a true closet case!

  12. Rick Perry has pretty much always been a divisive hardline buffoon. He outbuffoons Governor Bush, but Texas politics has more than ever come to embrace far-right extremism as a moral virtue.

  13. Jen Marcus 24 May 2013, 1:20pm

In my view,Texas is a backward intoxicated on religion foreign country found along the continental contiguous states in the USA.It should be no surprise that they elect Neanderthal people like Perry!

  14. “While I will always cherish my time as a scout and the life lessons I learned, I am greatly disappointed with this decision.”

Alternatively, he could always change his name to Katy and apply for the Girl Guides…

Perhaps a message of condemnation by the leader of our own Scouts would be in order. Openly gay members are allowed to join and those who reach adulthood are allowed to be leaders. Ours should distance itself from their American counterparts I think.

    1. What a fool. To bad the wonderful Molly Ivins is dead she’d give him an earful.

  16. The Americans just churn them out…

  17. The article has an error where it suggests acceptance of gay scouts is a local option That was discussed both for scouts and leaders and was not in the proposal. The current stances is unambiguous: No youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.

    1. Yes. That’s now the second time the Pink News team got this detail wrong.
There’s no “option about opting out of allowing gay youths to join” as suggested in the article.
The committee considered the option. But later decided against including it.

  18. Perry will find that there are a great many disappointments in life, himself among them, not that he’d notice.

Perhaps we should take up a collection and send him a ladder, with instructions in how to use it to get over himself.

  19. for a long time now i’ve heard stories about rick perry being gay. supposedly, there was an affair with his former secretary of state which almost cost him a divorce. also a more current affair with a male chef at the governor’s temporary mansion. is this all just idle gossip or what?
