  1. I read the article by Richard Godwin, it was well written and most of all was amusing but got his main points across incredibly well.

  2. He’s a good writer- actually, the Standard has a few, and they’ve been very vocal in supporting Equal marriage.

  3. I think you’ll find ALL rabid homophobes have those dreams, Richard. They are so dismayed by those thoughts that they turn that self-hatred outwards and ‘project’ their inner fears about themselves, onto the very people they fear themselves to be: gays. “Show me a homophbe – I’ll show you a closet case”. The message is FINALLY getting across …. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP4zr0agHSM

  4. Bum Him? I’d like to Horse Whip him -

  5. I love bumming.

Bum him? That’s obviously very English. If you don’t mind I’ll be borrowing it. :-)

Maybe a good bumming might shut him up once and for all.

This speaks to what I think is the REAL reason str8’s hate gays – the idea that the chauvinistic, entitled str8 white male could be overpowered and raped by an equal, or more to the truth, someone with a better, more muscular body. (Ask women how they’ve dealt with this over the eons…)

In a world where even the strongest horse could be ridden, where the largest carnivore could be eliminated and the mighty mammoth could be speared to death, another man remained the only threat to a man’s sense of entitlement.

    Ideas?

    1. A man (or woman) who is comfortable with their own sexuality is NEVER homophobic. Even Shakespearean understood the concept of “Me thinks the lady doth protest too loudly”. If someone has been brainwashed by religion or parents (or both) that being gay is ‘wrong’ … a ‘sin’, that person will, at ANY COST, supress any inner same-sex desires. (These people will describe homosexuality as a ‘choice’ because they are struggling with that very ‘choice’). Not only that, they will ‘project’ their self-hatred outwardly. Homophobia is the outward expression of self-hatred. Once you understand this, it explains why SOME people are homophobic and others are not. If it is NOT the above … what IS homophobia …? And please don’t give me any crap about ‘religious belief’. Homophobes use holy books as a tool to justify and re-inforce their inner-hatred.

  9. That made me giggle. I can’t when I last heard the term to bum someone. It seems so ancient now.
I have been in the US for 13 years so maybe I just forgot all by Brit slang.
