    By the same token, I hope the Labour party will resist the temptation to get sucked into Tory wrangling themselves, and avoid the temptation to support the wrecking amendment to extend civil partnerships to straight couples.
    That extension is an important part of full equality, but to support the motion now will be to destroy the entire bill, for no greater purpose than to embarrass David Cameron. Time for Labout to rise above short term political games, in the interest of the country as a whole.

    This is distracting us away from dealing with the serious things happening to people because of welfare reform, we do have a register office for marriage, to me thats much the same as civil marriage, im all for equality for all and weve came a long way with this. vulnerable people need help with so many hardships being faced, even committing suicide because of it, the government is getting away with it, we have food banks helping peopie,
