On his new film about the life of famed entertainer Liberace, Michael Douglas has spoken about about the pressure of filming sex scenes, but said that once he and Matt Damon had kissed once, they were “comfortable”.

Douglas made the comments in New York Magazine regarding intimate scenes he stars in alongside Damon, in the Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra.

The 68-year-old Oscar winner, said: “Once you get that first kiss in, you are comfortable.”

“Matt and I didn’t rehearse the love scenes. We said, ‘Well—we’ve read the script, haven’t we?”

He went on to say: “The hardest thing…is that everybody is a judge, I don’t know the last time you murdered somebody or blew anyone’s brains out, but everyone has had sex and probably this morning, which means everyone has an opinion on how it should be done.”

The film is to premier on HBO on 26 May, and focusses on the life of entertainer Liberace, and his relationship with Scott Thorson.

Hollywood actor, Damon, in December speaking to Playboy magazine said with regard to Douglas’ kissing technique, that “Michael was a wonderful kisser.

He also said that he never denied rumours of being gay because he didn’t want to insult some of his friends.

The film’s Oscar winning director, Steven Soderbergh, said that it was not scheduled to have a theatrical release because film studios turned it down for being “too gay.”
