British soul star Beverley Knight is to perform at this year’s Cardiff Mardi Gras.

The event is taking place at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 31 August.

Mentioning her support for the LGBT community, the Soul Survivor singer said: “My oldest childhood friend finally came out to me. I had already been a vocal supporter of the LGBT community for years at that time and had always known he was gay.

“We were in my car when he eventually spoke those words to me. When I spoke, I simply said ‘AND…?!’

We both burst out laughing!”

Cardiff Mardi Gras Entertainment Manager Iwan Lloyd said: “We have already confirmed X Factor star Rylan Clark as our host and I’m really excited to also have Beverley Knight performing.

“No matter how old you are, there will be an act at Cardiff Mardi Gras for you. There’s nothing else like it in Cardiff this summer”.
