California’s state legislature has a strong Democratic supermajority, and national Republicans have all but completely written off any hope of getting significant California votes in the future – the GOP has come to hold California and its demographics in open vitriolic contempt. So, solid opposition from the few meager California Republican strongholds actually means very little in a state-wide context.

    Actually can I just point out that the California Legislature is one short of a super-majority in the Senate – all because a Democrat member quit even before being sworn in to the Legislature…
