One Million Moms attacks Disney for unofficial ‘gay days’ at Walt Disney World

The American Family Association’s outspoken campaign group One Million Moms, has voiced its outrage at Disney, after organisers of an unofficial LGBT day said it would take place in Walt Disney World.

The group, which describes itself as ”a network of Christian moms who have joined together to stand up for our children and families,” made the latest complaint via its website, and an email bulletin.

Despite the fact that the ‘Gay Day’ event is not sponsored or endorsed by the Florida theme park, One Million Moms sent an email expressing surprise at the fact that, as Disney does not sponsor the event, it does not accept responsibility for it, nor can it attempt to stop all participants from entering the park.

The email read: “Homosexuals will be celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Gay Day wearing matching Gay Day merchandise, such as T-shirts. There will also be transvestites dressed in drag showing their support for the event. This event is planned with the intent to expose and desensitize children to this lifestyle by same-sex couples holding hands, hugging and kissing. In short, a Gay Day participant’s main goal is to be seen versus seeing Disney World.

“In past years when we have contacted Disney representatives about this same issue, their response was simply that they do not sponsor this event.”

It went on to say that Disney is “irresponsible”, for allowing the event to go ahead, suggesting that the LGBT event is not “proper conduct”.

It continues: “On June 1, unsuspecting families will witness a well-orchestrated event that Disney says they have no control over. Disney has taken no action to stop this, which leaves families stunned and offended. So instead of a normal day at this popular theme park, parents will be angry at the harm this causes families.

“Disney has been irresponsible for far too long. Disney representatives and security need to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and require proper conduct and dress code on a daily basis.”

Some have questioned whether the anti-gay group is aware that the openly gay George Kalogridis, recently became the President of Walt Disney World.

In December, the adamantly homophobic group focussed itself on US department store JC Penney, and the company’s spokesperson, Ellen Degeneres, because of an ad featuring the openly gay TV presenter, and three elves.

Back in May, JCP also came under fire from One Million Moms after the retailer released a pro-gay ad featuring a lesbian couple with a child.

The group also took umbrage to a new TV show produced by Jennifer Lopez, about a lesbian couple, slamming it as “anti-family”, and prior to that, for similar reasons, attacked Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s new show, The New Normal.

Mr Murphy said that One Million Moms would probably enjoy the TV show if they watched it.
