Last time Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest was with Lordi!
As for “No Political Statements” didn’t Israel enter one year with a song “Push the Button” about Iran? (and what the hell are Israel doing in the EUROVISION song contest? Last time I looked Europe did NOT have a nation called Israel, and the nearest place of that name is in the middle east!)
    Great folly, Stanley Unwin

The Euro in Eurovision isn’t about the continent of Europe. It’s for members of the European Broadcasting Union, which includes some countries in both the Middle East and North Africa. There’s no reason why the likes of Morocco, Tunisia or Lebanon couldn’t enter too if they wanted.
