Nonsense. All it takes is for one to come out, paving the way for others to do the same. Saying football isn’t ready means one might as well forget about ever doing it. The same goes for baseball.

  2. It will never be ready until it happens.

No one should be expected to live a lie one day longer.

  3. No asshole, YOU’RE not ready but you don’t speak for the NFL. You’re not even IN the NFL anymore so stop trying to speak on their behalf, particularly when you’re just full of hot air and personal prejudice.

Another one who just doesn’t get it.

  5. Thats HIS opinion. Still waiting for the 4 NFL players to come out at the same time.

  6. “There’s too many guys in the locker room and, you know, guys play around too much.”

Maybe the reason why they don’t want an openly gay man in the locker rooms…he may expose what really goes on behind close doors.

  7. So his argument is that basketball is ready but football is not because football teams are bigger?

Does he think gay men need a critical mass of manflesh to activate full gayness, and can control themselves around ten guys in the locker room, but would get full-on gay faced with forty?

Presumably he means that men congregating in such large groups as are found in an NFL locker room will be unable to control the urge to behave like puerile bullies. Which says a lot about Mr Ward.

  8. A lot of hostility towards this guy and I think a lot of it is misguided. Just because he thinks there’s a culture there that doesn’t make it ready, doesn’t make him some kind of bigot. He’s just giving his opinion.

    He also said:

“Hopefully one guy comes out of the closet and [will] be comfortable with himself,”

    and

“I don’t have anything against a gay football player or a gay person period, so if he does, he has support from me. I want people to live their lives for who they are and don’t have to hide behind closed doors to do that.”

So let’s not jump on his case.

Nonsense, the NFL is a step ahead of everyone. Sources confirm, nearly all active NFL players are gay … http://placeitonluckydan.com/2013/04/league-confirms-nearly-every-nfl-player-is-gay/
