Rush Limbaugh: Jason Collins news ‘rammed down people’s throats’

US conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is not happy at the outpouring of support given to gay basketball player Jason Collins who came out on Monday.

Limbaugh, known for his anti-gay views, ranted at President Obama’s decision to mention about congratulating the player at a press conference.

“I grew up in a family… where people’s sexual orientation, preferences, whatever – weren’t even discussed,” Limbaugh complained on his talk show. “Why can’t everyone just put your sexual preferences on Facebook and call it a day? Why do we need to stop everything and have a national day of celebration, or mourning, depending on your point of view… about this?” Limbaugh said. “And this tolerance only goes one way.”

“If anybody says ‘I’m not big on it’ (when a public figures comes out as gay), Limbaugh alleges the response is to be called a “bigot,” “racist,” “extremist” or “homophobe.”

“There is no tolerance at all here,” Limbaugh said. “Not only do these people have to publicly announce it, everyone else has to applaud and accept it.”

“If you wanna say you’re gay, fine, but does it have to be rammed down everyone’s throats all the time?” he added.
