US radio host: It was right for school to discriminate against gay teacher, like they would against a shoplifter

Bryan Fischer a US radio host, and spokesman for the American Family Association, has weighed in on the debate around a gay teacher who was fired by a Catholic school for naming her same-sex partner in her mother’s obituary.

In March Carla Hale was fired from Bishop Watterson High School in Ohio after her partner, Julie Uncapher, was named in her mother’s obituary.

An anonymous letter sent to the school’s diocese by a parent led to Ms Hale, who had taught physical education at the school for 19 years, being sacked.

In the video, posted by Right Wing Watch, Fischer commends the school for discriminating against Hale, and says that it is right to discriminate against gay people’s “immoral behaviour”, and that Hale was engaging in “sexual misconduct”.

Speaking on his show, Focal Point, he says: “We have go to reclaim the ‘discrimination’ word. The language has gotten to the place where everybody thinks if it is discrimination  it’s bad. ‘Discrimination’ itself has become a bad word.”

“The school discriminated against this teacher, yes they absolutely did and they should have,” Fischer continues.

“They were absolutely right to do it. There are times when discrimination is the right thing to do. They were discriminating against this woman’s sexual behaviour; sexual misconduct; immoral sexual behaviour. We should make no apologies for discriminating against that kind of behaviour.

He goes on to say: “We discriminate against shoplifters. My point is that we discriminate against immoral behaviour all the time, and we should. So let’s reclaim the discrimination word.

“It is right to discriminate against people who engage in aberrant sexual behaviour  We should discriminate against people like that. It is right to discriminate against people who engage in that kind of behaviour.”

Fischer recently attacked Fox News host Bill O’Reilly for recent comments during which he said Christians needed to do more than just “thump the bible” to win the equal marriage debate.

He also recently said that the NFL should not allow openly gay football players, as they would cause a “grenade-like explosion”.

Fischer previously blamed a gay “lobby” for “destroying” the US military, and has said that peoples’ daughters will be drafted into the army “to die” because of gay people.

Fischer also recently said the Boy Scouts of America’s announcement that it might lift its ban on gay scouts could open its doors to paedophiles.

Bryan Fischer previously came to the defence of an anti-gay evangelist who is being sued for supporting a Ugandan bill to intensify punishments for homosexuality, and claimed that “the left” is trying to “destroy” him.

Since being fired, Carla Hale, who is seeking reinstatement at the Catholic school, has said she hopes the support she has received is inspiring to young people.
