  1. On the other hand 16 Apr 2013, 11:26am

Someone alleged in another post on these people that it was the American’s NOM behind it. Is there anything in the French press about it? My guess is that the paltry showing in London recently may have been linked to the C.I. who are alleged to have American backers, so maybe there are homophobic financial backers in common.

    1. I haven’t seen anything but it wouldn’t be surprising, they’re pretty organised globally apparently. Equally though, a lot of people blame Americans for everything that’s wrong in the world and don’t notice their own backyard is full of home-grown nutters.

If you’re interested to look for yourself type mariage gay opposants into google.fr and go to the actualités tab. I presume you don’t read French so just use google translate.

Well Joss, you haven’t read this. NOM is going global. Why do you think its president, Brian Brown, went to Paris during the first Manif pour Tous? If you look at the slogans on the paraphernalia in blue and pink, the message on it is identical to NOM’s, including the script that Frigide Barjot uses. Sharon James of C4M also used identical language.

        1. thanks Robert for the link. I was meaning I haven’t read anything in the French press re last night’s arrests. I know the Americans are involved somehow in the UK because as you say the language is Americanised, almost to the point of hilarity. I didn’t know that NOM had such close links in France though.

          1. Robert in S. Kensington 16 Apr 2013, 2:26pm

Yes, Joss, NOM most certainly does have close ties in France and I’ve no doubt the UK and elsewhere in the English speaking world. The m.o. of C4M for instance, postcard campaigns, leaflet distribution, massive letter writing campaign to MPs and the Lords, all the hallmarks of NOM. Unlike the United States, we don’t have transparency in funding for hate groups, no disclosure to the public. The organizers for Manif Pour Tous must have a sizeable amount of funding to rally so many people en masse in short periods of time. The cost of the materials they’re distributing don’t come cheap. I dare say C4M have received financial assistance and strategic planning by NOM. I think NOM targeted France given it’s penchant for large street demos at every provocation. The spin Brian Brown put on them was very predictable and grossly inaccurate. No other police estimates in France have been called into question except for equal marriage.

          2. OMG, it's a slippery slope! 16 Apr 2013, 2:43pm

The demos in France have even been used in Singapore by the PM as a rationale for not even decriminalising male gay sex, (they have a powerful antigay evangelical lobby and rich megachurches with links to the US ).

    2. MPT gets support in kind from NOM, e.g communications services and strategy. I don’t know of any evidence of funds transfer.

NOM’s principal backer is suspected to be the Catholic church; NOM resists releasing national records, but Catholic dioceses and the Knights of Columbus have a dominant role in state-level funding. OpusFidelis provides communication services to the Vatican and does the same for NOM and for Manif Pour Tous.

NOM approached UK anti-gay groups in 2011(?), but UK anti-gay groups preferred the evangelical, extremist wing of US anti-gay politics. Christian Concern/CLC are backed by the US Alliance Defense Fund; CI/C4M have ties to the American Family Association, which backs ADF.

NOM used to shun the AFA/ADF, but they’ve got closer this year – as the middle moves our way, NOM gets wackier. And with NOM out of the UK, the Catholic Church worked with C4M. So the Catholic/NOM script and the AFA’s extremist fundamentalism are converging on both sides of the pond.

    Religion = Hate and violence.

    Shameful.

  3. Welcome to the New World Order, communism by stealth…

    1. If marriage equality is the result, I welcome it with open arms.

    2. You’re an idiot. Tell me how many gay marriages have taken place in China or North Korea that you know of?

    3. What the hell has communism got to do with anything? As for your paranoid delusion of a ‘new world order’ – you’ll be telling us next that the illuminati are a gay conspiracy who are going to take over the world and force heterosexuals into slavery. Either get some help, stop smoking as much weed or stop visiting David Ickes website.

      1. Welcome to the New World Order, communism by stealth…

Wasn’t this meant to be read as a sarcasm? I mean, they are sharing their slogans, money, militants, ideas, and stupidity.

        Just asking….

    4. Well, welcome to the New World Order, where you lost and everyone is really equal according to the law. But feel free to whine about it, after all that’s all you have left anyway.

  4. Thank christ for Pink News because one things for sure the rest of the printed media largely choose not to report these stories.

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 16 Apr 2013, 12:24pm

Except that hate groups such as C4M will eventually use it to foment resistance to equal marriage. They’re all on the same page, same script. used by Christian Concern, Christian Institute and Anglican Mainstream and many Tory bigots in opposition including some in the Lords.

Equal marriage will be passed into law in France so NOM’s involvement will have been proved useless and a waste of time. They’ve only had one quasi success in California with Prop. 8 but even that to will probably be struck down. There were three states where they were instrumental in getting referenda on the ballot and were overturned in 2012. The State of Maine also overturned it’s ban and reintroduced equal marriage. So in essence, NOM’s attempts have resulted in failure after failure. France will be their biggest. Truth eventually prevails.

  5. Isn’t this behaviour EXTRAORDINARY?

It means “We’re not having queers sitting up at the front of the bus with us! No way!”

It’s hatred of homosexual people, pure and simple.

And in this day and age, after countless wonderful gay films, or art-films with a great deal of gay content, coming out of France in the last 20 years!

Vehement homophobia lurks beneath the surface of the waters. It has done so for years, and no doubt will continue to do so.

  6. “Virginie Tellene & group ‘Manif pour Tous’ are responsible for the violent homophobic assault on Wilfred de Bruijn & partner.”

Post it and tweet it all around the Internet, everyone.

    Fight fire with fire!

When you’re dealing with the devil, you can’t afford to be gentlemanly and cautious. You have to take your gloves off and fight hard!

  7. Phew I was a bit worried they weren’t going to blame us.

How about we start blaming them first every tragedy due to their hateful and evil views ?

  8. NOM may not win in France but they are steadily forwarding their message of hate for gay people and endorsing evil acts (including political) against them.
Attacks will continue until that group is legally oppressed.
