  1. That There Other David 5 Apr 2013, 6:56pm

Proof, if any were actually needed, that they’ve completely lost the argument and know they’ve lost the argument.

I look forward to seeing equal marriage across the USA by 2016. Based on what we’re reading and hearing there’s obviously no credible opposition movement.

  2. Seriously nothing surprises me anymore, there are a lot of really stupid people in the world.

  3. Same old same old slippery slope argument.
Let’s conflate something which is currently legal with something that isn’t and claim a direct causal link between one and the other.
They’ve allowed 16 year olds to drive cars, they’ll be issuing forklift truck licences to toddlers next.
Women have the vote now, next thing their pets will be given the vote.
Gay relationships are no more a slippery slope to incest than straight ones so why the f**k are we constantly asked to justify whatever some right wing wingnut imagines will happen in some scaremongering theoretical future?
If these guys really want to marry their sons and daughters that badly perhaps THEY should campaign for it.
    What, no takers? Thought not.

    1. Well put.

  4. People with multiple chins probably lead to marriages with multiple wives I’d say.

  5. This is the Widdicombe ‘Siblings should be able to get CPs’ argument. Seen it before. Seen it for what it is. Seen it off.

    Good luck with that, Erick!

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 5 Apr 2013, 8:06pm

Except that Widdecombe and her ilk never really believed in CPs for siblings. It was a red herring to foment resistance against CPs as many Tories did and still do. They also said it would lead to all manner of relationships and that never happened of course. They know it would never lead to incest and it’s the same nonsense with equal marriage. What I find revealing is their obsession about incest and polygamy, two aberrations that are overwhelmingly heterosexual if you look at the history of both. Either way, both are illegal under UK marriage laws and have no chance of ever becoming law. It would take a Commons vote and approval in the Lords to legalize incest and polygamy and that’s NEVER going to happen. The only people so far who have committed polygamy or bigamy are heterosexuals and they are few in number. I’d like these idiots to point to the people demanding or who would demand introducing both if not themselves.

      1. I agree, Robert, that that was Widdebeast’s intention. But it is here too. Show people the alleged ‘slipery slope’ and they’ll pull back from the imagined first step.

        1. Robert in S. Kensington 6 Apr 2013, 12:03pm

When you then hear Lord Carey chanting the same mantra which was never supported by Rowan Williams and not by Justin Welby, then you know it’s all a ruse to instill fear and scare-mongering. Normal, reasonably intelligent people wouldn’t believe that nonsense and thankfully, the majority don’t. They know no such thing has happened since CPs were introduced and they can’t even produce one shred of evidence of two siblings going to a registrar’s office trying to apply for one. I’ve also asked several MPs to provide the evidence of the number of polygamous marriages in the UK. I’m still waiting for their responses which I’m sure will never be forthcoming for obvious reasons.

      2. Bless you for acknowledging the clearly vast influence the UK has over its transatlantic former colonies. Pity the effects take so long to trickle down though, specially when it comes to developing intelligence beyond a reliance on Gaad.

  6. Has no one told him that polygamy is largely associated with various religious groupings? He should be told.

    1. People like him never listen no matter how powerful the argument.

  7. So, according to him, homosexual relationships are just a cover for shagging our parents.

  8. Julian Morrison 5 Apr 2013, 9:45pm

There are valid problems with incest, but he’s right, the two most often advanced “problems” are bunk or outdated. The ick factor should never be legislated. And genetic incompatibility is just a medical issue, nowadays, and not one unique to incest, nor is it relevant to incest that doesn’t involve sex of the types that results in pregnancy.

On the other hand I can immediately think of two valid reasons to say no to incest. The first is that love relationships fail more than they succeed, and you could trash your ties to a family member in a bad breakup. The second and the only one worth actually having a law about is power imbalance; like a teacher with a student, it’s considered unethical for a person with structural power to have a relationship with a subordinate, and lots of parents, particularly fathers, exercise power over their adult children, particularly daughters, in a way that would make consent impossible.

    1. What the the fu*k are are you talking about? Weird.

  9. Erick, why not go the whole hog and start telling people that its heathy and right to be FAT… OH! Loving the chins

  10. .....Paddyswurds 5 Apr 2013, 10:14pm

I have asked this question before Why are conservative christians so fixated on Incest and bestiality. They seem to think of nothing else these days. Surely the law should be taking a close interest in these creepy characters … are they involved in these disgusting activities? Are they hoping that by talking about them incessently they will become mainstream and eventually normal discourse and eventually be legalised? Surekly not?

    1. Paul, moral instructor to wankers 5 Apr 2013, 11:07pm

Well you seem to want to interfere in the lives of consenting gay men, so who’s the hypocrite?

      1. Paul, moral instructor to wankers 6 Apr 2013, 12:02am

‘I have not claimed one set of values on one hand and opposed them on the other’

So you do support equal marriage then – between non-related same-sex couples of course? Or are you a hypocrite? Nobody is describing any sexual act as disgusting (only you do that) and as as for familial sexual relations, that’s an entirely separate argument which you seem to want to drag into the debate. If people wish to campaign for such things that is up to them, but it’s irrelevant to the call for the same rights, rules and restrictions which apply to opposite sex couples be extended to apply to same sex couples too. Get it?

      2. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 9:45am

Incest is illegal being Gay isn’t so you’re argument, like you is seriously flawed.

You are the only hypocrite around here.

        Obsessed much?

    2. the disgusting perverted homosexuals now does it and all other disgusting groups cna be discriminated

What language are you trying to communicate in?

      1. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 9:49am

You really are a truly disgusting individual and a very poor excuse for a human being.

      2. Oh, was that a sentence? Its apparent indifference to grammar and, for that matter, sense suggested otherwise to me. I think another dose of the you-know-whats might be in order Keith, you’re beginning to froth again.

    3. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 9:38am

“But when people call your activities disgusting you cry homophobe”

So the question is why do people like you, clearly think about nothing but sex? Seriously…. then you wanna get all moral with us but your the one’s thinking about what we do in bed all the time.

It’s a bigger hypocrite who clearly only thinks about what sex people have then sprout on about morals.

Your morals are seriously flawed and you only have yourself to blame. You’re the one who is obsessed about Gay sex more than the rest of us on this site, who are actually LGBTQI.

If YOU chose to think about Gay sex that is YOUR problem not ours!

      1. Come on Keith, you may delude yourself that you’re spending more than half your days on a gay news website “for the benefit of instructing the ignorant” but, really and truly, don’t think anyone here buys that. Your obsession with gay men and our activities is beyond unhealthy, it’s pretty freakish, and I think I speak for everyone here when I say, with all possible kindness, that you should seek more psychiatric help.

If this is really the only way you can get your kicks, I feel deeply sorry for you.

      2. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 1:11pm

True Rehan… only I don’t feel sorry for him, just pity.

  11. ColinJones 5 Apr 2013, 10:19pm

Thank god our laws on broadcasting save us from a UK version of Fox News,it’s amazing that Rupert Murdoch was once a socialist before big money turned him.

    1. At the moment. A House of Lords committee just published a report in which they recommended that the requirement for balanced reporting be removed from broadcasters like Sky.

  12. Master Adrian 5 Apr 2013, 10:48pm

“When reminded about laws preventing incest, the Oscar-winner replied: “It’s not incest between men”, because “incest is there to protect us from inbreeding, but men don’t breed.” ”

Actually this is right…… Laws against incest are created to prevent defects in children that are the result of breeding, in fact they have nothing to do with moral or ethics…… as our ancestors (unaware of the possible medical consequences) married in-family, mothers with sons, dads with daughters etc. etc.
Of course the faith “experts” will be against it, but then, when are faith “experts” pro-change and pro-development?

But somehow it is ill-logic… a son of a dad is the result of breeding, so is the man then gay? Or bi?

  13. Paul, moral instructor to wankers 6 Apr 2013, 12:03am

‘I have not claimed one set of values on one hand and opposed them on the other’

  14. How stupid can these people get?! Do they not know that incest relationships cannot work because Our brains recognize and sense that our family is our family so you cannot fall in love with your own siblings/parents/cousins etc

Also polygamous marriages won’t last long because of conflicts between partners.

Even a 2 year old would understand this lol

  15. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 9:30am

These people are complete idiots. Their arguments are seriously flawed because incest and polygamy are illegal. Being LGBTQI isn’t!

Why would incestial or polygamous marriage be next when those things are illegal. It’s just bigotry for bigotry sake, nothing more and it just shows up the morons for the pure and utter hatred of humanity they have. This they pass off as a religion!

    1. Jock S. Trap 6 Apr 2013, 5:47pm

All I can say to all that crap of yours is two words…. Pot, Kettle…

  16. “if equal marriage becomes legal, advocates of equal marriage will switch to support polygamous marriage.”

Has it happened in any of the many countries where marriage equality exists?

Ergo, its a stupid unfounded statement to make, more likely motivated by ignorance and bigotry.

Typical of Fox News, its a “news” channel for the uneducated.

    1. Jean-Paul 6 Apr 2013, 4:53pm

Freedom of religion is one thing, but is a person really free to believe a proposition for which he has no evidence?

  17. “And why is consensual adult incest any less moral than consensual adult homosexuality.”

No surprise a basket case like you would want to knock up your sister.

    1. ….probably how your brother/sister parents made a freak like you.

  18. Robert in S. Kensington 6 Apr 2013, 12:08pm

Quite, and they are almost always conservatives spewing this nonsense. He doesn’t really believe any of it. The more they rant, the more they’re helping to bring in equal marriage. He hasn’t learned anything from the last American election in 2012 in which three more states introduced equal marriage as a result of bigots calling for a referendum in all three. Look what happened. They actually believed they would get their way and look what happened. They lost the election in 2008 because of the equal marriage wedge issue and they lost again in 2012. They will continue losing. Uruguay this past tuesday and France on April 12th. More will follow.
