  1. And that is why he’ll be preaching to half-empty churches virtually every other week of the year.

    1. Couldn’t have put it better myself. :)

    2. They’re usually much emptier than that.

    3. Everyone whose been in England tells me that the churches are empty – only 15% of the people go to church on any regular basis

BTW wonder how many kiddies this guy raped. Remember Obrien who called gays marrying grotesque.

New pope same old feces of the mouth disease. The fools are simply destroying religion and it couldnt happen to a more deserving group of “people”

Oh I just noticed he called gays marrying facist. So conveniently forgetting that the facists murdered all the gays they could find – estimated at 100,000

And of course his church supported t hose monsters

      1. Hi James thanks for this link, its worth investigating contextually a lot more about the situation regarding the Church’s support for Nazism. Check out this book written by a Rabbi on the situation: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Myth-Hitlers-Pope-Against/dp/0895260344/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364739502&sr=8-1

  2. *snore*

    1. NO! NOT “snore”! They may be fading but people like this are FAR from done trying to make us out to be their scapegoats! If we don’t pay attention and keep our guard up, they can AND WILL do whatever they have to to shove us back…not just into the closet, but into their dungeons, so that they can try to “correct us and show us the error of our ways”, just as they did with the Jews and Pagans during the Inquisition’s heyday. If we don’t watch, if we don’t continue to fight and speak out against this BS, we will get what we deserve for letting ourselves fall into hubris!

      1. Nigel chillout

      2. Actually, I expect virtually none of us would have the slightest idea such an individual as the Catholic bishop of Shrewsbury even existed were it not for the drivel he occasionally spouts. In all, it’s best ignored as his influence is minimal.

‘If the Christian roots of our society are finally severed what will be left to uphold human dignity, to protect human rights and the value of human life itself?’

    Rationality, that’s what.

We can use our brains and give up the childish notions that this life is just a rehearsal for some ‘afterlife’ and that there’s a magic daddy looking after us. When you can’t pass the buck to a deity, you have to take responsibility for making this world better.

We’re watching you very closely Bigot Davies. You may well be another following in the footsteps of O’Brien because you’re protesting far too much. What’s the betting he’s another self-loather?

    1. And why is his nickname amongst the inner circle “Dark Mavis”?

He’d better keep that surplice clean.

      1. Wingby, can you tell us more, please? (Seriously.)

Anyway, this “Dark Mavis” preaches in his rather pathetic little Shrewsbury “cathedral” (no more than a run-of-the-mill church) largely to a congregation of brainwashed young Filipinos and Poles.

But do tell re “Dark Mavis”. I know a journalist who is putting such stuff into print in one of our national papers.

      2. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2013, 2:23pm

I’m having a good laugh at that one. Dark Mavis indeed! I wonder if any of the “inner circle” have indulged him in carnal pleasures?

  5. blah blah blah, same old same old, these evil freaks need to change the record.

  6. He must be delighted that Cardinal O Brien left such a big void for him to neatly park his message of hate and intolerance all neatly wrapped up in the Jesus loves you blanket.

    1. ChrisMorley 30 Mar 2013, 5:09pm

He’s a bit less hysterical now – at Christmas he told us introducing equal marriage was like Nazi fascism.

He’s on some kind of new medication, I’ve heard, that’s the reason for his mellowness.

  7. Is human dignity enhanced by regarding people as breeding machines?

    1. PS. and is human dignity enhanced by allowing people to suffer prolonged pain and distress at the end of their life? Something I witnessed happening to a relative of mine who was of the Catholic faith. She was not able to communicate anything apart from her pain. It went on for nearly a year.

  8. Dave North 30 Mar 2013, 2:43pm

And a happy reckon Easter to you too.

    Bigoted imbecile.

    1. Dave how’s it going sorting out your anger issues?

      1. Dave North 1 Apr 2013, 9:43am

        F\/ck off.

        And happy easter.

  9. What does this have to do with the Resurrection?

Upholding human dignity is treating other humans as equal.

How does this message relate to people’s every day lives?

Neither the KKKristian religion nor the Islamofascist religion have ever been good for Humanity as both are extremely violent and against Freedom. They both wish to destroy our CIVIL SOCIETY and replace it with a Theocracy, placing themselves over the rest of us….we will NEVER allow them to do so! Destroying both of them would be a most welcome consequence to their evil treachery! If that is what must be done to secure Freedom for Mankind, then so be it!

    1. And special attention to the Islam. I always say and predict that the Arab World will never attain real democracy until religion is taken out of the scene. After all, that was how us the West got ours.

  11. johnny33308 30 Mar 2013, 4:12pm

That’s nice. Instead of promoting something positive and wholesome, he will focus on the aspirations of his evil church to destroy our Civil Society, so he and those like him can have total control of our Civil lives! Wow! KKKristianity is such a blessing! Like Islamofacism!!! Such good and wholesome religions they are, promoting the best for all of us humans!

  12. Mark Davies is a self-loathing closeted homosexual. He hides behind the clerical collar while spewing hate speech against the LGBT community. The more he condemns the LGBT community, the more he indirectly outs himself as a homosexual man.

  13. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2013, 5:37pm

The hypocrisy of this moron is breath taking. This from a cult that has and continues to be mired in corruption, especially the molestation and abuse of innocent boys and girls and for collective complicity in covering it up and protecting the perpetrators for decades. The hierarchy are a bunch of sociopaths and many of them suffering from O’Brien syndrome. I’ve no doubt in my mind that Dark Mavis is another one.

  14. ColinJones 30 Mar 2013, 5:48pm

He mentions the Church’s concern for the poorest but they don’t show that much concern, the Bible condemns wealth time and time again but the Church never does, in fact they mostly tolerate the injustice of the growing wealth gap. The Bible says a rich man can’t get into heaven so why do you never see the religious telling the rich to give their money away instead of demonising gay people all the time.

  15. “…the Church’s concern for charitable causes is comparable to the Church’s opposition to same-sex marriage, as they are both a matter of “what a human life is worth”.

Well, indeed. To all these ‘christian’ bigots we’re clearly lesser and mustn’t be allowed to ‘contaminate’ marriage. Nasty, prejudiced people.

““If the Christian roots of our society are finally severed what will be left to uphold human dignity, to protect human rights and the value of human life itself?”

What? Like the Christian/biblical roots of slavery, misogyny, racism and homophobia? What do they know about human rights? They can’t even bring themselves to treat women as equal let alone LGBT people.

What a fantastic, loving Easter message – NOT.

  16. This unpleasant man is clearly ambitious and has worked out that the way to climb up the greasy clerical pole is to sound off at every opportunity against the gays. He thinks about it all the time probably – especially late at night.

He’s been clinging onto the skirts of Cardinal O’Brien – and now that he is disgraced the path is open. Dark Mavis obviously fancies himself kitted out in red silk shoes, biretta, dress, and fur lined red shoulder cape.

If he’s been grooming the postulants (as has been alleged here) then we should be told!

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 31 Mar 2013, 1:27pm

If he’s ambitious as O’Brien, then woe betide him. Pride goeth before a fall, a very big fall if he keeps this up.

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 31 Mar 2013, 1:27pm

If he’s ambitious as O’Brien, then woe betide him. Pride goeth before a fall, a very big fall if he keeps this up. He may also be eyeing the “red” hat in competition with Nichols of Westminster.

  17. Am I the only one who just wants to slap that damned smug smiling face of his?

    1. I don’t he’s a top man!

  18. Attempting to smear marriage equality by comparing it with quite unrelated abortion and euthanasia is unhelpful and reeks of desperation .

Just say NO to religious tyranny

Women should always have autonomy over their reproductive potential – just as those whose quality of life is severely compromised should be allowed assistance to end their lives if that is their wish.

  19. Another closet case me thinks

  20. “If the Christian roots of our society are finally severed what will be left to uphold human dignity, to protect human rights and the value of human life itself?”

There are lots of alternatives — like ethics, morality grounded in compassion and empathy, and religions that are not founded on a death cult.
