And once again the NUS will do nothing to condemn this individuals message of hate.

  2. garry cassell 26 Feb 2013, 4:52pm

This hateful piece of garbage should get a taste of his own medicine…That shouldn’t be hard to accomplish…

  3. How is this even possible? Has no-one at Reading University heard about what happened at Brunel?

    1. What happened at Brunel, fill us in please?

      1. There’s a link in the main article.

      2. Apologies, I should have said Warwick. In fact I can’t find much online as to whether the talk at Brunel went ahead or not.

        1. Hi Rehan…Yes the talk at Brunel Uni DID go ahead & twice too, The Nov talk at Brunel was the second time ‘he’ was invited to speak, both talks went ahead.

          1. Thanks Daniel – that is truly disgraceful. Very disappointing that the authorities at Brunel allowed it.

  4. Why would anyone want someone this hateful representing their religion? I hope his invitation is withdrawn very quickly.

    1. Because his views aren’t that far off what the Qur’an actually states.
      He’s a ‘good’ Muslim.
It’s the progressives and liberals who stray from Islamic doctrine.

      1. Yes and no ! You’re right for the sharistas who abide by their fatwa issuing clerics . But they’ are not very islamic in very many ways . Islam is about Allah and not about learned commentaries on the Karim Coran . Such things and people are condemed in the Coran . There should be nothing between the believer and his induvual submission to Allah . If these would be popes are hindering people from embracing Allah or the way of Allah then the curse of Allah is apon them ! Lastly there is really only ONE verse (in Niza) in the Coran which can be interpreted in a homophobic way , but Allah will help the believer with this if he so wills . Personally I hope the nasty crusaders will nuke the homophobes throughout the islamic world and impose some nice liberral laws no matter what people say . It a bit tough but it worked well for Algers for 134 years . . . .and as the Coran says the believers will rejoice in the victory of Rome ! . . . And Yes I am a good Muslim

        1. Bit of a poor job when you can’t even spell the name of the most holy book!
But the issue is not there but in the ‘Hadith’ which has several Surahs which make it crystal clear that Muslims must kill gay people.

          1. Dude, there are multiple options for transliterating the name of that holy book to roman letters, the same way as there are multiple ways of transliterating from cyrillic. Just because you’re used to the prevalent way of transliterating into roman letters and the English language, doesn’t mean that’s the only correct way of doing it.

How/where do I protest this guy??

    1. Email and social media addresses of the SU are here:

Some of us involved with the LGBT Group are spreading the message around and starting to lobby now, any help is welcome.

  6. Why is this moron still in the UK?
He should be deported to some Islamic nation where the culture is a little more welcome to his hateful bigotry.

    1. I have got no problem with you calling the guy a moron(i think he is too). but i do have a problem with the comment you made about what you call ” Islamic Nation”, you do sound like a racist moron !!!

  7. Robert (Kettering) 26 Feb 2013, 5:41pm

This vile piece of trash should be ejected from all places of learning. After all the University relies on public funds therefore the government should put a stop to his “visits”. Isn’t what he’s saying incitement to murder???

  8. Joe E in California 26 Feb 2013, 5:45pm

Who pays for this guy’s security? Tax payers ???
    He should pay his own!

  9. What contribution can this hateful creature make with his wisdom ? In a tolerant , enlighted society why is even allowed in this country ?

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 26 Feb 2013, 6:11pm

Exactly, Carlos. If he were espousing the same sentiments about an ethnic group, he’d be shown the door and booted out with no possibility of return, similar to Geert Wilders who is far less caustic but not anti-gay.

  10. Robert in S. Kensington 26 Feb 2013, 6:00pm

Deport the bastard back to America! Oh wait, the equal marriage opponents will scream “abuse of religious freedom”. Another one the Home Office needs to put on its list of undesirables entering the UK.

    1. Good grief, I hadn’t realised this creature was originally Frankie Lipscombe from New Jersey. Clearly what they say about the (excessive) zeal of the converted is true.

      1. Some people desperately need better hobbies…

  11. johnny33308 26 Feb 2013, 6:12pm

It is terribly shameful to allow such a platform for this evil anti-Human Rights person, for ANY reason whatsoever. He needs NOT to be heard….hate speech is not free speech, ever…..

  12. I think I trust British students to let this man know exactly what they think of his outrageous views.

  13. If someone like Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris referred to this piece of garbage they would be accused of “strident atheism” and being a threat to religious freedom.

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 26 Feb 2013, 7:10pm

To digress, I would love to hear their views on equal marriage. Assuming they would support it, it would be delicious to hear them dish it right back to the opposing religious nutters inside and outside Parliament.

  14. I think he should go, and be listened to closely.

Because he sums up perfectly what Islam is ALL about.

    1. It’s not fair to tar everyone with the same brush, I know some lovely Muslims. Most are moderate.

  15. We could always try the plastic bags, bricks and bridges method for this hateful creature.

  16. So they wouldn’t have a problem with someone going who thinks all muslims should be killed. Or a nazi going to speak who thinks that all jews should be killed.

If this goes ahead, reading university are going to have a fight on their hands.

    1. But the Muslims believe that all Jews should be killed, in fact they cannot have their final day until they have slaughtered them!

“Judgment Day will come only when the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them, until the Jew hides behind the tree and the stone, and the tree and the stone say: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah , there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him’ – except for the Gharqad tree.”

  17. Why doesn’t the Home Secretary stop him from entering the UK and if he’s already here, then get him on the next plane out.

If his hate-speech goes ahead, I hope there will be someone recording it – to hand to the police if he calls for gays to be harmed or murdered.

  18. Odd. The NUS no platformed Julie Bindel – but this guy isn’t banned? If I said people like him should be put to death, I wouldn’t be banned, I’d be arrested.

  19. Hmm, so, after Christian extremists have been marginalized we face an interesting situation. Islamic extremists are completely free to shout their hatred, often with the support of the LEFT! Why? Because the Left is, at this time, incapable of seeing a minority persecute another, Their brains do not comprehend, thus they ignore. That is why you have more outcry over a Catholic bishop saying gays are immoral than an Islamic cleric saying they ought to be killed in brutal ways.

    1. Ignoring an ideology that has proved it can kill people for who they are (unless Uganda passes it’s evil anti-gay law, ALL countries with capital punishment for being homosexual are Islamic ones) just because of fears that you would be perceived as aligning yourself with racist nutjobs is ludicrous. There should be a strong left-wing critique of political Islamism as a far-right ideology period. Least you let the BNP take over the discourse and kill it off with their bigotry.

    2. Some of us on the left can see the difference, Robert. UK Islamic fundamentalist dogs want to maul us to death whereas UK Christian fundamentalist dogs do an awful lot of barking and foam at the mouth (though some are probably secretly envious of the Islamic fundamentalist dogs), but they all need a trip to the vets.

      1. Sorry James but you can’t see the difference! This is not a case of Muslim (where does this avoidance word ‘islamic’ come from?) fundamentalism, the murder of gay people is a widely held belief in the Moslem community – it’s mainstream, not extremist.

  20. thelostdot 26 Feb 2013, 9:44pm

There should be a crime in this country for inciting murder (I’m not actually sure there isn’t), and NOBODY should be immune.

    1. @ thelostdot, It IS a crime in the UK, Incitement to Violence (let alone murder) is a crime & against UK law….its just NOT enforced when it comes to Islam!

  21. It is ridiculous that he was even considered never mind actually invited. I expected better from UoR and it’s values.

  22. Piece of shit -why as he not be charged with inciting hatred.

  23. I’m a strong believer in freedom and freedom of speech, I think this should go ahead albeit closely monitored.

My basis for this is the visit of the president of Iran to Columbia university, where his speach did him far more harm than good. So much so that it reverberated around the world and gave us a new sound bite – ‘there are no gays in Iran’ a quote which is still heard today.

I doubt this guy is going to be very intelligent, and any well placed student able to ask a question sould be able to trip him into making an outrageous statement which could be used against him and the disgraceful liberal left NUS who believe Moslem men trump all other minorities

  24. Midwest Jeff 26 Feb 2013, 11:22pm

Not to step on believers’ toes but think of how much more peaceful the world may have been if the Abrahamic religions had never existed.

    1. LOL – you stole my thought to the letter. Have a nice day.

  25. Don Harrison 26 Feb 2013, 11:30pm

This guy will be hounded out
    and so he should.

  26. I don’t see a problem with that. Let the man speak and in a second everyone in the audience will see the hatred and bigotry that Islam is all about. I don’t even doubt he will advocate the stoning and killing of some of the “underdressed” girls present in the audience.

  27. It’s not as if the students are powerless and have nothing to say on the matter.

This Iman reminds me of the Westboro Baptist church, and i was most impressed by the way college students in the States ran those loonies off campus by a demonstration while singing John Lennon’s ‘Give Peace a Chance’.

The students have as much a right to free speech as this muslim freak.

  28. Har Davids 27 Feb 2013, 6:41am

If they expect to raise the unbeliever’s awareness of Islam as a faith, they might consider talking less about murder for a while.

  29. Theres a Face Book page (link below) set up to protest Abu Usamah’s visit to Reading Uni. Do join it, I have.

  30. Jock S. Trap 27 Feb 2013, 11:09am

This man should never be given a platform because he clearly hate the UK and it’s laws.

To knowing let this man speak publically knowing he thinks innocent people should be murder deserve no audience and should be banned from speaking.

What are the people at these Universities thinking of when they allow such hateful people to speak.

    It’s shameful!

  31. Right now, on the HomePage of PinkNews the photo of Abu Usamah at-Thahabi appears immediately adjacent to a photo of footballer Ben Cohen. The disparity could not be greater. The former seeming to project his hatred of homosexuals, the latter beaming with acceptance and tolerance.

  32. Homosexuals are perverts, as they ‘pervert’ nature.

I wonder if there are tickets..

    1. Jock S. Trap 27 Feb 2013, 2:19pm

You wouldn’t be Cardinal Keith O’Bigot now would ya?

      Sounds like jealousy to me!

    2. Since homosexuality has been observed in hundreds of animal species, it is natural by definition. You’ll need to find another excuse to hide your bigotry behind.

  33. Li Thotomist 27 Feb 2013, 3:57pm

I’m sad to report that my partner and I wrote to the Vice-chancellor of the University, asking him to stop this disgraceful event going ahead and we have had a complete brush-off. Just a link to the following statement:

Very unhappy that their concern seems to be to protect their “code of practice on freedom of speech”.

We emailed the Vice-Chancellor’s secretary, at and the students’ union at

    1. Liam the God 27 Feb 2013, 4:23pm

As I posted earlier: The NUS will do NOTHING to condemn this mans hate.

    2. Would be good to see some people responding to their comment on Twitter, so far only two people are responding, one is a well known troll.

  34. All islamic filth should be ejected from the country. The whole religion is vile disgusting and evil.

    1. Liam the God 27 Feb 2013, 6:29pm

ALL religion is Vile and Evil, not to mention misogynist, homophobic, and abusive. ALL. RELIGION.

  35. The best disinfectant is sunlight. Let him speak and show the world how ugly homophobia is. And let people shoot him down, so to speak and challenge him.

    1. He shouldn’t be allowed into the UK. He should be deported. He’s preaches hate and murder. Freedom of speech is legal but inciting hatred and murder is illegal. Giving him freedom to enter the UK to have an audience is most definitely wrong.

  36. Paul Mylum 28 Feb 2013, 5:21am

I can’t even be polite about this – tell the cunt to fuck off out of my town and my country and take his views with him

  37. I think this won’t satisfy anyone. Not even members of his religion want to be represented by this ignorant idiot.
