Hugh Jackman: The gay rumours really annoy my wife

Actor Hugh Jackman has once again commented on rumours surrounding his sexuality by saying it ‘bugs’ his wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

The Australian-born ‘X-Men’ star, who is currently appearing in the film ‘Les Misérables’, made the remarks in an interview to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jackman, 44, said the gay rumours affect him more than he has previously admitted.

It is especially difficult for his wife of 16 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, who, Jackman said, often sees stories online.

“Just recently, it bugs her,” he said. “She goes, ‘It’s big. It’s everywhere!'”

In December 2011 Furness, who married Jackman in 1996, spoke of how the celebrity gossip was “tragic” to the New York Post’s Page Six magazine.

In 2009, Jackman said: “I’d be happy to go and deny being gay, because I’m not.

“But by denying it, I’m saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn’t anything shameful.

“The questions about sexuality I find more in America than anywhere else, because it’s a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others.”
