What a cutie! Will you be my valentine Mr. Walsh? ;)
jamesh: You must be a glutton for punishment to wish that on yourself! Thanks for the offer though. Happy Valentines to you!
James, you did an excellent job this past Tuesday. I paritcularly welcomed your discussion in regard to the lack of portability of CPs in the EU in terms of reciprocity of the rights therein in EU countries where there are varying degrees of legal unions for gay couples that do not convey as many of the rights of CPs. It’s an important issue and warrants further address as the bill moves through its stages.
Does the Out4Marriage campaign have any plans to target the Lords? I’m quite sure C4M and others are mobilised to do just that. Remember, many in the upper chamber are much older than those in the Commons.
Thanks Robert – it was interesting that the committees reaction seemed liek the international angle wasn’t one they had considered before despite it being in the submission I wrote way back in the Summer to the consultation.
James, what an excellent article!
I hope PinkNews keeps this near the top of the FRONT PAGE until the deadline for submissions has passed, and visible thereafter, until such time as this Bill becomes law.
As I’ve worked in education for many years and at all levels and who thus saw the problems young homosexuals face in classrooms and in lecture theatres, I imagine I may qualify as “a specialist in the field”. So I shall be submitting. They can always reject it.
Thanks for letting me know I have the opportunity to submit.
Eddy: Please do write a submission, C4M are already getting their naye sayers to flood the mail bags of Lords and MPs we have to try to keep pace, with sensible and reasoned argument rather than their approach.
We’ve started a soft lobby of the Lords today using #WillYouMarryMe campaign (details in the box of the PinkNews article). I’d actually really recommend calling their 24/7 answering service – I rang it at 2am this morning when I was finishing this article and it really works!
And jamesh: You must be a glutton for punishment to wish that on yourself! Thanks for the offer though.
Just want to say that today, Valentines Day, I bought my husband pink roses and a box of chocolate from Asda and then went to Wetherspoons later for a Valentines meal together, the wine was served in an iced wine bucket from friendly staff. Thank You all for making our day ‘special’.
