Well said Alice. I can only imagine the laughter when she said she didn’t want to get into the sexual ins and outs regarding consummation.

As for Burrowes, he’s so intent in trying to derail the bill. If often makes me wonder how many more questions he will ask which really are quite stupid and transparent thus far. I see no point in people like him sitting there since they don’t support equal marriage and have no intention of supporting any amendments or modifications. No amount of protections and safeguards will ever convince him.

  2. I totally agree. This is all about moving our nation forward and equality for all. We have been SO childish about matters sexual for so long … perpetuated mainly be religion. We should also be asking WHY are people homophobic? The answer is that inner-fear of ones own sexuality is the driver of homophobia. No-one who is truely comfortable with their sexuality would EVER be homophobic. So, homophobia is about insecurity in ones sexuality. We need to get that message out LOUD and CLEAR. And please … don’t use the bible to justify your bigotry.

  3. I’m enjoying this feisty Alice Arnold. I never suspected she was was so forthright during her years of reading the news so politely.

    Has she considered politics?

You don’t have to go to Twitter to see homophobia. Just read the comments in any daily newspaper. (And yes, even The Guardian.)
