I find it amazing and revealing why Catholic legislators and politicians supporting equal marriage have never been excommunicated despite threats to do so, but the church would sack a teacher for supporting it. It will be interesting to see just how extreme the next pope will be.

  2. More people must have left the church since he was in office than any other pope.

Let’s hope the new one is just as extreme.

Peter Tatchell as usual apkeaks truth about Pope Ratthinger while the politicians and journalistic hacks are trying to say nice words about the dead. Well, he isn’t dead yet and neither of his ideas, even though they ought to be, along with those of his Islamic and Jewish brethren in bogotry. And, I am sorry to add, some sisters in bigotry also.

  4. Let Peter Tatchell’s polite and moderate last line be etched onto Benny’s tomb as his epitaph!

“Benedict’s papacy promoted reactionary and retrograde ethics, including sexism and homophobia.”

  5. Tatchell’s right. The pope joins a long list of other bigoted narrow minded idiots.

In my mind this Pope is an inhumane monster-a fully dressed clown. I wonder, how many young persons have committed suicide due to his “fascistic” outbursts of hatred. How many gay lives has he ruined.

  7. Peter the problem is that many Christians are not walking as Christians. by definition we are of those that are in the New Dispensation ( New Testerment) and not the Old Dispensation where Homosexuality was forbidden..( even mixing with other races was outlawed -true)
Under Grace Jesus paid the penalty for breaking the laws stated in the Old testerment that we should not break and then He took the Law out of the way and established a new system :) Grace (Hebrews 10v9).

Problem ( a big problem) is trying to get Christians to stay under Grace and not go back under the Law! Maybe new testerment bibles only should be used ????????

  8. Thank God the homophobic bigot is retiring. Hopefully the new pope supports gays, but sadly I think that would be the day when the majority of Uganda supports gays – A.K.A a very long way away!

My bet is on Peter Turkson for the new pope.

So God’s Rottweiler has finally lost his teeth! Giving age as his reason for abdicating will not cut ice with me, especially as our own Queen and Prince Phillip are still carrying out their duties at a greater age and will do so for some time yet. There must be a real reason for the first Papal abdication in 600 years and I will not be surprised if the industrial scale child abuse within the Catholic Church and the Pope’s cover up of the whole affair when he was Cardinal Ratzinger had anything to do with it. Although the previous Pope, John-Paul II was opposed to homosexuality, he did not keep banging on about it like Benedict XVI. While gays were a pet hate for Benedict XVI, he also criticised other religions and opposed the equality of women in the Church. Good riddance, Benedict, you will not be missed.

  10. “The positive nature of some child-adult sexual relationships is not confined to non-Western cultures. Several of my friends – gay and straight, male and female – had sex with adults from the ages of NINE to 13. NONE feel they were abused. All say it was their conscious choice and gave them great joy. While it may be impossible to condone paedophilia, it is time society acknowledged the truth that NOT ALL SEX INVOLVING CHILDREN IS UNWANTED,ABUSIVE AND HARMFUL” – Sir Jimmy Saville

Oops sorry,…. Peter Tatchell wrote that.Self-styled ‘human rights’ activist indeed !

And this is the creepy person the BBC interviewed during the Popes visit and CH4 gave him money to peddle his Anti-Catholic lies ! You can not make it up !

    1. Peter Tatchell has never advocated adults having sex with children. He does not support this. He says adults should NOT have sex with children. He has never advocated the abolition of ages of consent. He has said that if young people of similar ages have sex below the age of 16 they should not be prosecuted, providing they both consent and there is no coercion, manipulation or exploitation. Treating these young people as criminals is wrong. They need counselling, not prosecution.
