  1. That’s because there is NOTHING to debate. Gays should have equal rights.

Perhaps these socialist MPs were sick of hearing bile from homophobes so just blotted it out until the time to cast their votes?

  2. Maybe, just maybe, he is someone who can multi task. After all, we see MP’s sleeping during debates in Parliament here. I saw one MP using his phone during yesterday’s debate

I saw one of our own, a female MP on her iPad yesterday during the second reading. Not sure who she was and wonder if she voted yes.

  4. If the debate was as full of homophobic rhetoric as was the UK parliament’s yesterday, I can’t say I blame him. I listened to ours with disgust as some of the blatant ignorant, bigoted and down-right scare-mongering hatred delivered by the anti-gay equality lot. I only hope the bill is pushed through with all speed and that note is taken of all the rebels who voted with their prejudiced consciences for voting purposes at the next election.

  5. Considering the nonsense that right-wingers and religious bigots were spewing, MPs had to find something to do to get their minds off the ugly rhetoric.

The truth is the right wing opposition are filibustering the bill. They have placed over 5,000 amendments and are using repeated points of order, requests to suspend the session and questions to the minister. For several days now they are giving the same speech over and over again. Article 1 of the bill was agreed Saturday. They are meeting through the night and also on Sunday – they are still on article 4!!!

  7. If the French debate was anywhere near the seven hour length of ours then I don’t really blame them. In fact I suspect it to be much, much longer given the hundreds upon hundreds of amendments filed by opponents.

The posting of the photos is clearly politically motivated in any case, attempting to undermine equal marriage supporters, considering the uploader is a UMP MP and the caption is about the “fate of French children” (AKA: “”).
