I gather Michael Gove has always been very pro Gay so his support doesn’t surprise me. He’s part of the new generation and thank God that before too long many of the old Tory bigots will be falling off their perches!
I can’t personally wait to see a list of all the old (and some not so old) dinosaurs who vote against allowing same sex couples to marry. In my book they are as bad as those old Tory cronies who voted against removing the illegality of homosexuality from the statute books in 1967, some of whom are still alive.
While it is good new he is supporting it, seeing the words ‘promote’ being used by a government minister is a concern. It reminds me of the objections to the removal of Section 28. Does the concept that you can ‘promote’ a sexuality exist in 2013?
It’s a bit of a surprise, because Gove often comes across as a real old fogey. I find myself – unexpectedly – rather admiring Conservatives who are taking such a vocal and positive stance.

“Who you love” should be “whom you love”, Michael. Stand in the naughty corner.
Why would anyone ‘promote’ same-sex marriage anyway. “If you like marriage, why not try SSM. It’s even better!” What tosh!
Well, then, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, idiot.

Admirable words. Great. I do hope, however, that teachers are as actively discouraged from promoting homophobia as they are racism.
