Singer and former X Factor winner Shayne Ward has stripped off for Attitude magazine’s annual naked issue – which is supporting the efforts of the National AIDS Trust.

On Friday, the charity described the latest HIV statistics for gay and bisexual men in England and Wales as “depressing”.

Attitude Editor Matthew Todd said: ‘We started the Naked Issues back in 1999 and they remain the most popular issue of the year so I’m very happy they come with an important message about HIV which, in association with the National AIDS trust, is simply Use a Condom and Get Tested.

“We know that HIV rates in gay and bisexual men are higher than ever before and so think it’s very important that men who have sex with men should be testing at least once a year for HIV and every 3 months at least, if you are having unprotected anal sex.

“I know loads of us don’t – so if you’re thinking about it, pick up the phone, log on, make an appointment or go to a walk in centre. It might save your life! This year the issue also comes with a message about drink and drugs which can reduce our ability to make informed choices like whether to use a condom or not.

“If readers think they may be overdoing it with alcohol or other drugs then they can find someone to talk to at Antidote at London Friend, or at the Club Drug Clinic or at the Lesbian and Gay Foundation in Manchester.
