  1. I thought the latest Bond novel was Jeffrey Deaver’s Carte Blanche a couple of years ago …

So an action -man secret agent like James Bond can’t be gay? This bloke is an idiot!

  3. Silly thing to say. If he looked Gay it was because of the homoerotic scene they included with Bardem. I saw no other signs. Wooden performances characteristic of the 1960s and 70s do not suffice any more. Better to worry about the gaping holes in the plot e.g. French and Finney trying to escape through the heather waving a flashlight around.

  6. Sounds rather dumb to me given that Skyfall has so far taken $1.08Billion world wide, more than The Dark Knight Rises, making it the 3rd highest grossing 2D movie of all time (not adjusted for inflation), and probably the most attended movie outside the US of the year.. For reference Casino Royal and QoS both took approx $600M.

    Whatever his intention, it worked..

  9. how exactly is one “slightly gay”?

is that like “a little bit pregnant”?

Sebastian Faulks sounds like a right idiot.

I never thought 007 was gay in the film. I loved the scene with Bardem.. but despite what people are saying, it doesn’t sound like Bond was saying he was gay or even bi. It sounded more like he was willing (in the past) to do whatever had to be done for his job, including seducing a man if such were the case. So a spy who’s gay4pay, in other words.

‘Slightly Gay’? as in ‘slightly straight’?

We don’t hear the Slightly straight so why do they need to say slightly Gay only to mean a negative.

    Idiot!

As opposed to the emotionally unavailable rutting stag (read: male slut) he has been so far?

Why am I reminded of Sondheim’s musical “Company”, and the theory that perhaps this frustrated man’s best partner could be another man?

  13. And what exactly is wrong with him being ‘slightly gay’? Unless you’re implying being ‘slightly gay’ is something bad? What the hell does ‘slightly gay’ even mean anyway because men can be ‘thoughtful’ and even feminine and still not be gay, OH MY GOD SHOCKER!! Sebastian Faulks is obviously an ignoramus.

  14. Casino Royale remains my favorite though… the tumultuous scene in Venice was nothing if not ‘smashing’… but I digress.
