  1. Given up sex with his wife? Why do I suspect he’s not had his leg over for quite sometime?

On another thing, the dark ages are missing a priest!

What a hideous man you are!

    1. Lucky wife!

    2. more boys to twiddle in the catholic church and only a wink and a nod by the hierarchy when he’s caught.

  2. Robert in S. Kensington 28 Jan 2013, 3:16pm

    Sick!

  3. He didn’t even have to become celibate to become a priest. Clearly not that big a deal for him to “give up” having sex.

  4. Will the wife miss their sexual encounters?

Will we be seeing headlines such as

“Former Episcopal Priest was found unconscious after being beaten over the head with his bible…His wife is being held as suspect and is being questioned by police as we speak!”

  5. “Hideous”? “Sick”? While I certainly don’t share this guy’s opinion, it sounds like he made a decision consistent with his own values & beliefs and I’ve got to respect that. We in the GLBT community can’t expect people to respect our views & opinions when we aren’t willing to do the same.

As for he & his wife, what they do in their bedroom is no more my business than what I do in mine is his.

    1. Lynda Yilmaz 28 Jan 2013, 4:18pm

Jeremy, I agree in principal with what you say about respecting his opinion, but let’s not forget that his decision to leave the church was driven by his intolerance of the ordination of a gay priest and women. He doesn’t sound like he has much respect for anyone, including his own wife.

      1. You took the words right out of my mouth Lynda. To me this is his was of spreading hate and that’s something nobody should tolerate. I believe in people having their own opinion etc…But not when it spreads intolorence and hate

  6. Ah if he has given up sex with his wife I am sure she is more than happy about it. They probably couldn’t afford the bill for viagra anyway :P

  7. Kerry Hollowell 28 Jan 2013, 4:06pm

“I have such appreciation and affection for these guys”
he flip flops between religious codes so giving up sex with his wife must be no biggy, just saying………..

  8. Silly old fart – what does the woman with whom he made a life contract think of this rank hypocrisy and insanity? Non consummation has always been a grounds for annulment in the Roman sub-strand of “Christianity” – is she going for it?

  9. If the wife looks anything like him I’m sure chastity won’t be too heavy a burden for either of them.

  10. Darren Theoret 28 Jan 2013, 4:30pm

What a relief for his wive, I think..Who’d want that on top of them?

  11. Does his wife have any say in this. Obviously not. Such a great respect for women – not!

    1. if he was having sex with his wife… and doing it right, I mean…. nothing in the world would persuade him to turn his back on her..

      sex is bliss

  12. mcshaney`` 28 Jan 2013, 4:38pm

Maybe a trifle off point but doesn’t he look a little like Louie Walsh of X Factor???

  13. Edmund Rodgers 28 Jan 2013, 4:41pm

Phew bet she was over the moon – I mean imagine having that beached whale on top of you!

  14. No doubt the native RC clergy will induct him into child sex

  15. Yes, I would like to know how his wife feels about it as I take it they don’t have one of those open relationships where she might have her basic human need for intimacy and affection met.

  16. Rosina Elston 28 Jan 2013, 4:47pm

What does his wife say about this? Who would go to this priest for marriage preparation? A priest is supposed to exist for sevice to others, not to follow his own whims and fancies. The RC Church must be very hard up for priests.

  17. …and NO ONE was more happy to hear the news than his WIFE!

  18. Give it another ten years and even the Roman cult will be too progressive for him. Then he can become an imam, and not only start having sex with his wife again but take on another three into the bargain.

  19. What a great advert for the Catholic Church. If your church is not homophobic, sexist and generally bigoted enough for you then convert to Catholicism. Surely this, more than anything, demonstrates that people follow the religion that reflects their values, rather than getting their values from religion – as they claim.

  20. Christopher in Canada 28 Jan 2013, 6:11pm

What truly astounds is the “logic through-line” this twit has found in this.

I’m sure his wife has an opinion of her own – let’s hope she shares it!

You can’t reason with a drunk man.

  21. By the looks of him, sex was either not available or too much work anyway.

  22. Here are 3 words from ‘God’ to you: *Get a life*

  23. Here are 3 words from ‘God’ to you: *Get a life!*

  24. If I were his wife, I’d have filed for divorce. Someone as mysoginist as this shouldn’t have a wife.

  25. So marriage is only for having children, but if you join the catlicks you can stay married as long as you don’t have sex. But if you’re not married you can’t get married. And if you wife dies you can’t marry. All of this because you don’t want someone else to marry.

And if you are already in you can rape a child and be moved to another parish but if you are new you have to be examined to make sure you don’t have a dark past or you can’t join.

Well that all makes perfect sense then.

    1. Perchance he wants unfettered access to all the kiddies…..

      No questions asked.

  26. well its seems to be stated plain and simple..” “I have such appreciation and affection for these guys, that it’s just part of my own spirituality to do this…out of respect for them really.”
seems to me he has no affection left for woman, just the men of the church…

    nice….

    they can have him.

  27. He is such a dreadful man he takes his hatred out on his wife. Whether she’s better off is not the point; the fact he thinks he can debase and humiliate her in such a vile way makes me …words fail me!

    1. So he is dumping his wife and devoting his remaining life to a man.. Jebus.

      Oh dear……!!!

  28. I really care desperately. Not.

  29. Another bigoted turd flushed down into the Roman Catholic sewer……..

  30. More distortions through the topsy-turvey world of the rainbow prism ! There is no quotation from him about ‘giving up sex’ nor is there any need for him to do so (but that’s up to him)!.Married former Anglicans can join the priesthood – the fiction about giving up sex seems to be another anti-catholic smear ….and the trolls took the bait it seems :)

I suppose it spiced up a rather dull but inspirational story.Even more inspirational is the story of Oscar Wilde who was welcomed with open arms into the Church :)

    1. And your problem is?

    2. The “church” is a corrupt pile of crap. Grow up FFS.

    3. Whata laugh this thread is – side splitting! Thanks

      The vow of celibacy.

“We don’t have to take that particular vow,” explained Cornelius, noting an exception from the Pope for former Episcopal priests who are already married.

However, he and his wife have decided celibacy will become a part of their married life nonetheless.

“We have decided to do that voluntarily,” Cornelius said. “I have always had friends that are Roman Catholic priests and I appreciate what they’ve given up to serve god and the priesthood. You’re probably the first people outside of the Catholic Church that I’ve told this to, but I have such appreciation and affection for these guys, that it’s just part of my own spirituality to do this…out of respect for them really.”

    5. What ‘bait’ attracts you to Pink News, Ray?

  31. I don’t think she’s missing anything, I doubt he’s ever had sex with a woman anyway. Evil old queen.

  32. Jaw-dropping. It also shows just how flexible the RC church can be when it’s desperate enough. Of course there’s no theological imperative for celibacy anyway so quite why he sounds so pleased with himself is beyond me. No doubt he’ll be well rewarded in heaven, and no, I don’t mean that famous club under the arches!

    1. The Roman Catholic church is a business and hopes to stay in business. It’s never been too fussy where it gets new cannon fodder from.

  33. I’m sorry – I don’t get this!

The Ordinariate specifically allows married men to continue with their marriages ie be sexually active.

Nothing in your article supports your contention that he has ‘given up sex with his wife’.

    Bad journalism. 2/10.

    1. Look at the site quoted (WGRZ):

Looking at his face I’d guess it was his wife’s idea!! “I don’t want to see that over me when I’m trying to get off!! Become a Catholic, you fat git!”.
    Insulting Post ends.

  35. Looking at him, I’d say the winner here is deffo his wife.

  36. HAHAHAHAHAHA
That’s so funny!!! Really… the height of stupidity…
    Got laugh..

  37. Since he’s now a Catholic he’ll be able to make up the sexual short-fall with altar boys.

  38. The wife is the clear winner in this arrangement, by the looks of it.

  39. the article says that if you convert to catholism and already married you do NOT need to give up sex with your wife – then he jumped at it.

He only converted so he was allowed to have sex with her under the new rules.

  40. Well, let’s call this self-inflicted punishment for being a filthy evil bigot.
