Rylan Clark was declared the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2013 on Friday evening, in the live final on Channel 5.

After an emotional reaction to the news that he had won, the former X Factor contestant sat down with host Brian Dowling, and said, speaking to his mother on the phone: “Mum, can you believe it!?”

She replied: “I can, yeah”, adding: “I can believe it because you’ve been yourself and you’ve stuck up for yourself, and we’re so proud of you,” the Mirror reports.

Nicole Scherzinger, singer and X Factor judge, tweeted Rylan to say: “Congrats @RylanClark!!! Ur shamazeballs sweetie, I’m proud of u! Xo Nic”

Rylan was favourite to win for some time, however controversy broke when it was claimed that he had been sneaking out of the CBB house in order to rehears for the X Factor tour.

After being evicted last Friday, Gillian Taylforth, best know for playing Kathy on BBC’s Eastenders, told Channel 5 program the Wright Stuff that the openly gay singer had been secretly leaving the house to take part in rehearsals.

Also off to a stressful start, as the second housemate to enter the house Ryan Clark found himself and jockey Frankie Dettori tasked with deciding which of their fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestants would join them in the main house and which would be banished to the ‘basement’ below.

Earlier in Celebrity Big Brother, Mr Clark broke down in tears and claimed he was more hated than paedophile Jimmy Savile.

Before being voted off the X Factor, Mr Clark had voiced his displeasure at ‘hateful’ comments made by Gary Barlow at a charity event on Tuesday, in which he suggested that the judge had gone too far.

The gay former X Factor contender was snapped up as a presenter on ITV’s Daybreak programme just days after being voted off the music reality show.

Last week, former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, Paula Hamilton, caused controversy by suggesting that actor, Sam Robertson, was secretly gay, and that he needed to come out.
